Failed to Connect - Have Tried A lot - Niku - 01-06-2009

Hey guys,

Just trying to connect to the server so I can start playing, but I'm having some difficulty. I've read a lot on these forums about possible solutions, but I can't seem to fix it.

I have done the following:

1. Downloaded the Full Client from the File Updates page.
2. Installed said Full Client.
3. Checked for any patches on HeRO.
4. Logged in and found I could not connect.
5. Updated Sakray as much as I could using the Sakray client + Sakup.exe
6. Logged in and found I could not connect.
7. Checked and opened any Rag related ports in my Router.
8. Logged in and found I could not connect.
9. Reinstalled everything on a different drive to test.
10. Logged in and found I could not connect.

To my knowledge, Sakray is fully updated, as is HeRO (79 in neoncube).
I can log into the Control Panel using the same account, and it works, AND reports people are active.

What could my problem be?
Any help is appreciated!

For the record, I have also:

1. Installed latest Sakray Client. 0911.
2. Installed Rag Lite 1010.
3. Installed Mini HeRO Installer.

This did not work either. =(

software firewall by any chance?

some routers are pretty crazy. do u need to do any port forwarding after opening up the ports?

when u try to log in, run netstat in DOS and see if it's actually trying to connect to the server ip.

if this fails, u can try to find someone with a laptop, install ro, and see if u can connect from another network.

What address/IP am I looking for in netstat?

I've pretty much manually configured my router, have even set my PC as Default DMZ. I'll see if Windows has anything to do with Firewall but I doubt it, I've been able to connect to a lot of other games using the same setup.

Thanks for the ideas~

[Edit]
Ok, so here's a screenshot of my RO folder too, in case any of the GMs were wondering.

[Edit]
I've also tried to Ping the server at pandora.bounceme.net but I cannot ping it. I continuously get Ping Request Timed out. I've also opened port 6900.

Try to open ports 5121 and 6121 too.

Can you open setup.exe and show us the content with a SS too?

What exact error do you get or what happens when you launch heRO?

Are you running on a proxy?

Ok, here is my setup.exe.
I've also opened ports 5121 and 6121. I know my ports are opening fine, since uTorrent works fine, and when I probe them they are shown to be open.

To my knowledge I am not running any proxies. My internet connection is with BigAir Wireless, not sure if that makes a difference. I've asked them, and they do not close any ports for any reason.

As for the error, I simply go through all the steps, type in my account name and password and it comes up Failed to connect to server

Hope this helps! =S

Have you played another server that used the Gravity folder as well? It could be that some file from your old server is preventing you from playing.

RE: Failed to Connect - Have Tried A lot - Niku - 01-06-2009

Unfortunately, these are all fresh installs. I haven't played a Ragnarok server in about 2 years and since then, the only thing that I've really changed is my ISP (since I moved out).

However, I've played various other MMOs using this ISP so I can't think it would be the problem.

RE: Failed to Connect - Have Tried A lot - Frogboy - 01-06-2009

i tried pinging pandora.bounceme.net and also receive the same error you are, request timeout, meaning no data is getting through to that specific ip.

i thought panda might have posted somewhere the sclientinfo for the server in case people were having trouble connecting, but i'm not sure. you could always try extracting the sclientinfo file from hero.grf using grf tool and put it in a data folder to see if that would make it work (that shouldn't be the problem as the hero client should automatically detect that file in hero.grf), but maybe panda could give you a different ip address to try connecting with.

also, though i doubt this is the problem as you said you could log on to the control panel just fine, make sure that the _M/_F from registration is removed if you registered using the client. not sure if you can use the CP to register or not or the main webpage for that matter.

I had experienced same problem a few months ago too.
It was purely my internet connection that causing this problem.
I told the technicians and they solved the problem and I can play again.
I hope this can help you somehow.
