RE: Riddle Event!! IX (Jan 3rd 2006) - Sodo - 01-04-2006 Could you explain the answers? I got everything right, everybody was in the same spot, except I put that Andrew liked tennis and was going to the resturaunt, hence the reason he liked food, and Mike was going to the mall. Isn't it obvious my way is right? There are no hint's twards Mike's descriptors at all besides the fact that he's wearing a yellow shirt, and (by process of elimination) is going to the mall. Wouldn't it make sense that Andrew, who likes food, is going to the restaurant? The hint that says he likes food pretty much gave that away. How is it the other way around? Here's my format: 1, Sarah going to school wearing a pink sports shirt likes animals 2, Mike going to mall wearing a yellow shirt 3, Josephine Wearing an outfit like witch hunter robin likes video games going to an Anime convention 4, Andrew likes food going to restaurant likes tennis wearing a blue coat 5, Joe late for work going to work wearing white shirt likes music EDIT: I mean come on, rereading the clues states the fact that Andrew likes food 3 times, while nothing at all is said to describe Mike besides "~ The person who wears a yellow t-shirt is to the left of the person dressed in black." And since everybody is already going somewhere, he is left as the one going to the mall. Rethink your solution please. EDIT(2): Also, there is no solid proof that either one of these is right, they only said "Someone is going to the mall.", they never gave any clues whatsoever to help find that person. They also don't say anything leading to the fact that mike is going to the restaurant and likes tennis. They could've had something like "The girl who likes animals is next to the guy who likes tennis" but they said nothing to lead to the fact that he is the one going to the restaurant. Nothing is also said about the person liking food going to the restaurant, therefore you must assume he would since they stated the fact so often. Seeing as not enough information is given to differ the two answers from the correct one, this riddle wasn't put together as well as it could've been. RE: Riddle Event!! IX (Jan 3rd 2006) - GM-Pandora - 01-04-2006 Well you end up with someone with no like and another with 2, I said they each had a different thing they like. So.. well that's mainly why it doesnt work. And you have 1 clue that does not work, as you mentionned yourself in your edit. And btw just because you like food does not mean you're gonna go to the restaurant RE: Riddle Event!! IX (Jan 3rd 2006) - Alexander - 01-04-2006 O.o We all got the same solution. So obviously, it works. I'm not going to go through all of it...but, you do find out Andrew likes food...and then as you progress, it comes down to one clue that says "The guy who likes tennis, is going to the restaurant."...well, at that point in the system, there's only ONE spot open that doesn't have either a "place to go" and a "thing they like" taken up already. So it obviously goes to the person in line 2, who ends up being Mike. The rest falls into place after that. Try it again. ^_^ It all works out. RE: Riddle Event!! IX (Jan 3rd 2006) - Sodo - 01-04-2006 Oh, I didn't realize they all could only have one like, it kinda screws with you when the one person who likes food isn't going to a restaurant. x.x Sorry for the whole rant then. x.x RE: Riddle Event!! IX (Jan 3rd 2006) - GM-Pandora - 01-04-2006 I'll mention it more clearly next time ^_^ More riddles comming in the next few days, since it's pretty much the only event I can make -_-; RE: Riddle Event!! IX (Jan 3rd 2006) - Alexander - 01-04-2006 Replying to the latest Sodo edit: You've never done one of these puzzles before, have you? =o\ True, it doesn't state who's going to the mall. But you can clearly figure out everyone else who IS going where and at that point, there's only one person left..thus you know that last person you haven't gotten a place for yet- is going to the mall. That's how that fits in. And there are a few things said about Mike...I don't recall anymore, but some of it just might be that he was the last available person. You don't make assumptions either. By thinking that Mike likes food because he's going to the restaurant, you're taking two unrelated clues and makes linking assumptions. Ok, so in this instance, I see where it can be confusing like that. But that's not how these puzzles work. It's a lot of process of elimination and filling it in step by step. If you really want, I can take you step by step through how to solve this puzzle. I assure you, there is only one solution- and it was indeed very well written. The only problem, would be if you're unfamiliar with these kinds of puzzles...then you might not quite get it I suppose. RE: Riddle Event!! To me you sounded a bit rude assuming I never did a puzzle of this sort before. Missing one factor does not mean I've never done something before, we all make mistakes. Watch how you come off before clicking send please. RE: Riddle Event!! IX (Jan 3rd 2006) - GM-Pandora - 01-04-2006 I guess he meant that if you're never done one of those before it can be confusing. I love those kinda clues puzzles, I made this one myself RE: Riddle Event!! IX (Jan 3rd 2006) - Alexander - 01-04-2006 Well no, don't misunderstand me. It's just a general known thing that each category does not relate to each other. And quite honestly, it sounded a bit rude the way you were putting down Pandora's riddle. I didn't mean to offend you though, but I hope you understand what I was getting at now. Which also regarding your advice, don't forget the sword cuts both ways. |
