Maybe that's what the psychic Pokemon are for, to pass the dream along to someone else just before he dies so when they do decide to change the main character like they did in Power Rangers mulitple times during the series changes, He can just knock some innocent bystander out in the real world and have the same thing happen to them via unwitting psychic powers.
