RE: Trial of Heroes June, Saturday 30th, 3PM - Ellie - 06-29-2012 Too bad this isn't a need then, huh? RE: Trial of Heroes June, Saturday 30th, 3PM - Former-GM-Glyph - 06-29-2012 I still haven't seen a good explanation for using @time and then looking at your clock being a waste of 10 seconds out of the day. ![]() RE: Trial of Heroes June, Saturday 30th, 3PM - GM-Azote - 06-29-2012 Reminder: ToH is tomorrow. RE: Trial of Heroes June, Saturday 30th, 3PM - 09Kisame09 - 06-30-2012 I anticipate finally getting my ToH wings. Thankfully my nursing class has just entered a 2-3 day break so that I can do this :v RE: Trial of Heroes June, Saturday 30th, 3PM - mahawirasd - 06-30-2012 pfft, eating with your hands are more fulfilling anyway ![]() some of us are somewhat luckier to have had exposure to DST, but automatically assuming every other person in the server should also know that it exists is a mistake. and actually i was referring to how doing @time and then looking at your watch MIGHT be misleading due to how NOT EVERYONE knows exactly WHEN DST goes into effect - sure you can look it up but still it doesn't mean that it becomes second nature to you that instant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time case in point: in my 3 years in the server, i almost missed a TOH due to DST because although i did set my alarms to remind me of it once i saw the thread and accounted for the time difference, there was no way for me to know that DST was gonna kick in between the announcement and the TOH date. Guess i was just lucky i set my alarm for an hour and 30 mins in advance. thus ever since that event i always check with time zone converters like what shinigami and inasad linked, but i would never assume that others would also have that foresight - therefore i acknowledged what shinigami posted as a good gesture for others who might not be as lucky as some of us. Someone kill me. RE: Trial of Heroes June, Saturday 30th, 3PM - Former-GM-Glyph - 06-30-2012 So this is the reason "Let me google that for you" exists? To help the unlucky people who cannot type "Time" into a search bar and click on the second link which takes you to timeanddate.com? Where you can then just go, "Oh, server is in Quebec, here is the time for Quebec, and here is my time" and then make a comparison and be all "Huzzah! My mere seconds of questing are over! This shall be the time for me to go forth and be a hero!"? ![]() RE: Trial of Heroes June, Saturday 30th, 3PM - Seth~ - 06-30-2012 Request a @nuke at toh if i got the timing right. (non-point based area) for laziness which i think is fair. RE: Trial of Heroes June, Saturday 30th, 3PM - mahawirasd - 06-30-2012 yes, because people who have never heard of DST should have the foresight to google "DST", amirite? checks forum early march - ooo ok, toh is march 29th, goes to check time check's @time in-game and compares with own watch - ok, 10 hours difference. Sets alarms in handphones for 7.30 am march 30th. gets on at 7.30 am march 30th to register, finds out he/she logged 30 mins late. Nice. W |
