You make good points about Artifacts, I'll give you that. I'm hoping the next two sets in this block add more Myr support too. I'm definitely going to keep my eyes on the spoilers for Mirrodin Beseiged as they are released.

But yeah, Scars did have a good bit of control cards in it. The black card Memoricide comes to mind. Of course there's anti-artifact control spells as well.

Again, I'll agree with you on the control standpoint. For a long time I noticed that control decks didn't have much of a presence in Type II. I myself saw mostly Jund, Naya, Red Deck Wins, Red/Green Eldrazi, and different Black decks at the tournaments my hobby shop ran. I always play a control deck of some kind (heck, my Myr deck has a decent bit of control spells in it), so I'm glad that it's getting a stronger presence.

In regards to Tezzeret, I wasn't talking about a reprinted one with the same abilities as the Shards version. They made a completely new Elspeth (who would actually work okay in my Myr deck, even as a Sideboard card), so why not make a new Tezzeret too? He'd be a good Sideboard card with Elspeth, so there'd still be some variety.

For once in awhile there are like 15 different deck types id like to play. Its nice to have so much variety in a set for once. Heck,

In standard we will proably see.

Big Red
Red Deck Wins
Metal Red.
Proliferate decks in colors Red/White,Blue/Black,Blue/
Poison Decks in Green/Black,Green/Black,Blue
Mono Black Control
Mono Blue Control
Mono White Control
Pyromancers Ascension
Elves
Eldrazi Ramp
Blue Black Control
Blue Red(green) Destructive Force
blue white Control
Valakut Titan
White Equipment decks.
Green/ (X) Fauna Shaman
and Blue White Red Control just to start.

Myr decks will show up somewhere, These are all tournament level deck types which is absolutely fantastic @_@.

+1 Fates.

So many different decks. x_x How viable would a White Enchantment Control deck be nowadays? I used to have one a few months ago, until I realized a some of the cards in the deck would rotate out once Scars came out.

RE: Magic the Gathering - Avalon_Fates - 10-25-2010 02:28 AM

It could work perhaps in a casual game or a loose FNM, however after Scars Rotated in most enchantment decks lost there key cards..leaving you with well Spirit Dancer.

Everyone misses the loss of Oblivion Ring.

RE: Magic the Gathering - Magister Magi - 10-25-2010 12:08 PM

Ah, Oblivion Ring. That card was great in so many decks that were control-based (and used white). It sucks that it was moved to Extended.

RE: Magic the Gathering - Aaronock - 10-25-2010 12:26 PM

Oblivion Ring is pretty darn amazing.
Even Aggro decks could make easy use of Oblivion Ring, its just that good of a removal card.

Well if it means much you guys got Arrest to replace it for now. Its kind of the same thing...'cept the monster is still there on the field (but can't attack, block, or activate). I ain't sure that will make enchantment decks work since it depends on other support they have in M11. :s

RE: Magic the Gathering - Magister Magi - 10-26-2010 11:25 AM

Yeah, I agree. I did see a couple of Aggro decks run it. Final Judgment is like a mass-Oblivion Ring isn't it? The only downside is that it removes your creatures as well.

I keep hearing about Arrest but I don't actually have one of those. Sad, I know. :x

Its been printed before, you could probably find some from the Mercadian block if you got a store that sells singles in your area. I don't really care for the new art in Scars but it is common in that block...so it should be really cheap to pick some up if you are on a budget.

RE: Magic the Gathering - Magister Magi - 10-27-2010 12:01 PM

Yup, I'm pretty much on a budget. No job atm. x_x

Actually, the hobby shop I go to sells a lot of MTG singles. The owner has all the commons and uncommons in boxes marked with the set (or block) name written on them, and the rares are in a showcase (obviously).

I think the only cards he doesn't have much (if any) of are the ones from the earliest sets, which would be hard to get a hold of.
