I go to hang out and get killed by random losers.

You left out "It's a good place to socialize". ;3

RE: Why DO you PVP? - Cheesecake - 05-26-2009 02:39 PM

I tried to add it but I don't have the permission Icon_wink And it's hard to socialise when you're dead. Also, this pole was meant to be as one-sided as the other. :D

Needs the option, "I'm bored."

Socializing is real easy in PvP, heck, that's how I met Pyro, Fryrus, Sek, Silk, Capt Balthier, Aries, Draken, Tripp, and a bunch of more, so you can't say it's anti-socializing zone.

If you really think of it, what do you PvE for? To level up and get stronger.

Why do you want to get stronger? To go to higher level dungeons.

Why do you want to go to higher level dungeons? Stronger gear.

Why do you want stronger gear? To be stronger and better than others.

Why do you show you're stronger and better than others? PvP.

PvP = End end game.

PvP = Point of the game.

If nobody PvP'd, this game might've never existed, along with all the other MMORPG's.

And if you say "I don't want to PvP ever, so you're wrong.", you are either supplying or just socializing.

If you're supplying, you're supplying for people PvPing, which means you have a purpose in there.

If you're socializing, I dunno bout that, I guess this is like a chatroom with some fancy pixels.

But yea, PvP is where the real challenge is at.

Very nice, and clean response Monkey. Icon_smile I completely agree. PVP is where its at, if you're geared for it. Though, Beelz is a much tougher challenge than any LK with Zerk and 300% Tao. Anyone can gear for mid or demihuman and be good in PVP but it takes a special sort of gearing to Solo, and participate in parties against end game bosses.

So yes, PVP is part of the game, and a big part of it, but it is certainly not the reason the game exists. Icon_razz I've played on servers without PVP entirely, and it was wonderful. PVP isn't nessecery, It's good to have, and mighty fun.. but it is absolutely in no way what RO is all about.

Personally, I like the music, the scenery, the game mechanics, questing, grinding, and everything before I venture into the love of PVP. Although, I admit, whenever I play a high rate I do live in the PVP room. It's more less because the interesting and knowledgable people are always there.

RE: Why DO you PVP? - SeifuSnow - 05-26-2009 05:40 PM

I go to see how long it takes to get mobbed when I yell out on Main, "PVP!" generally on Human, simply because he's the easiest to win (be cheap) with.

@Lord Adjuchas: There is a mode called "Nightmare Mode" (pretty sure it's official) in which there is a chance to drop any worn equips upon death. That would be the equivalent to "hardcore mode," I guess?

If the server was to implement the actual PvP rooms, generally PvP events could be held there, and there would be a lot more guild/group competition considering most of the guild maps are complete recreations of towns (without NPCs, warps or ways to go into buildings) that just make things more fun. (Who doesn't like creeping around on a SinX/Stalker and pwning some random people chilling in the middle of a recreation of Payon?) And also, some of the GvG maps are totally badass. (the ones that aren't based off towns) @_@
