Nuking @main? - Kenshiro-san - 10-11-2009

We should seriously consider this now. xDD I'm with Aaron, just nuke!
@main off solves problems, but it's like that little itch after a mosquito bite.. you know you want to turn it on... but it' so annoying you want it off.. gaaaaah

anywho, Aaron, I support you nuke @main campaign!

Fixed.
You contradict yourself "It's so annoying... I wanna turn it on Icon_cry"
The good of main far outweigh the bad
EDIT: And this isn't even a poll -_-

Don't let the actions of a few spoil all the positives that come from having @main. I wouldn't be surprised to see some people leave the server if @main was removed altogether. It helps bring the community together and IMO is one of the reasons heRO is as good as it is.

Majority of the time when a new player joins this server, his/her first thought is to ask on main questions they have about the server, its people, etc. If you take that out, I wouldn't be surprised to see most newer players quit and go to a different server.

Although I disagree with your argument, I feel compelled to comment on your avatar. Kept me occupied for... a while, pure awesome 8D

RE: Nuking @main? - Aaronock - 10-12-2009

I bet everyone thinks at first I made this topic.
BUT SINCE I HAVEN'T...

Let the campaign begin for the true nuclear fallout of @main begin!!! Icon_twisted

Note: Nuclear fallout will not affect any other areas of the server outside of @main...or so we hope.

It's not like you're God and your opinion overwrites everyone else's.

Sorry, you're certainly fighting a lost cause here.

You should just hunt for your 61 Sohee Cards instead. No, seriously.

RE: Nuking @main? - mahawirasd - 10-12-2009

since @main is a command, can we "limit" that command somehow?
perhaps with a cool down or something?
1 minute should be long enough to avoid spam and yet still short enough to conduct a proper conversation (should there ever be any, god forbid Laugh ) on @main...

the other way i think could be an option is to create a value for main by imposing costs. A simple formula such as Base lvl * 100 should be commensurate.
To avoid @main becoming too expensive for newbies who are asking for help decently, we could impose a level limit similar to that of the reset NPC.

If applied, i can see people having more respect/placing more value on @main so that their spam/flame/whatever will be dispersed to pm/guild/local channels. An added bonus to this phenomena would be the reduced chance of customs quests being spoiled on @main...

Furthermore, the strategies above would definitely work much better if used in combination with each other... Ok

I think Main is fine as is, myself. It's the root of a lot of problems, I know. However, the good outweighs the bad. It's an easy way to check if people are online, a quick way to sell things, and sometimes provides the means by which to have a good conversation. xP If main died I wouldn't -quit-, but I'd definitely protest and be sad. ;3

Wouldn't that be the same as abolishing @main and implementing a Broadcast NPC?
