failed to get /patches/patchlist.txt - bordoixe - 02-07-2010
ok ,so i downloaded the full installer and done with the install. When i start the client on the desktop a box appears that says "failed to get /patches/patchlist.txt" and then the game wont patch. I'd really appreciate your help guys

What OS are you using?
Have you tried re-opening the patcher?

im using windows vista. Yes ive already tried re-opening them and re-installing them. I also tried the sakray patcher and it does'nt patch. And i' m wondering if my other RO client is messing up the patcher but i really doubt it coz i put them separately and in separate drives too. This is really frustrating..

It tends to do that a lot with Vista. You may have to try serveral times. If that fails, restart your computer then try again.
It takes me about 3-6 times to get it to work.

I'm having the same problem. I am able to run the game but i think whenever i come across someone with a custom item the game crashes, mostly whenever i warp to pront center. I too have vista and tried reinstalling, retrying, and even restarting my comp but i can't seem to patch.
is there a file for the latest patch only? i tried the full install and the mini-install but they seem like the same to me and did not solve the problem. i also can't update sakray either. whenever i try it just shows a lot of ?'s on the bottom and doesn't do anything. i don't think this is the problem tho.
I would appreciate any help on this matter. I just don't want to play, avoiding the center of pront all my life. or whoever that one person is that has the item that makes my game crash.

I have the same problem as the original poster. However, I've tried multiple times to start the patcher - perhaps close to 30 - and I still get the same error message.
I run Windows 7. I'm going to try and reinstall after this post.
Edit: Re-installation is no help. :c I'll check if it's the firewall blocking the patcher from connecting to the Internet.
Edit2: It's not the firewall. I'm stumped.

I'd really like some type of reply? Even just a "I'm not sure at all if this will work, but try it out" would be nice.
I've been able to play RO without patching, as long as I avoided the middle of Pront and any areas that have potentially custom patches, but I was dumb and went to Brasilis on my main acolyte. Now I cannot log on her as the game immediately crashes, and she took very valuable items and almost all of my z with her.

Usually when the game crashed like that, customs are the cause. So Full Installer should help.
However, do u happen to have another server in hero folder? it may cause problem too.

As Seiki mentioned, make sure you have no other server installed in the folder. Make sure you have admin rights and that you used the full installer.
