Healbomb Damage Limit? - Zerrif - 04-15-2010
I'm not sure if one exists, but let me explain the situation.
I healbomb ED's for 4032 damage with my gears. Recently, I switched out a Frigg's Circlet for a Maiden's Hat (5% more heal), and it heals me for more, but doesn't inflict anymore healbomb damage.
I took off the hat and put it on, and no change in damage. So my question is this: Is there a limit to the damage healbombing can do? Or does Maiden's Hat just not affect it (which it should, considering the description says increases effectiveness of Heal by 5%-- whereas Staff of Recovery reads very similar and DOES affect healbombing, but instead of 5%, it reads by refine rate)?

According to RMS, it doesn't affect healbomb. Script for Ribbon Hat lists "bonus bSkillHeal "AL_HEAL",5" which means a 5% bonus to HP recovered when casting AL_HEAL. For contrast, check Spiritual Ring, which explicitly boosts healbomb damage. "bonus bSkillAtk "AL_HEAL",50" corresponds to a 50% increase in damage inflicted when heal is used as an attack. Interestingly, Recovery staff used to have both those separately, but now they've been combined into a single script "bonus BHealPower."
Long story short, this is one more time when descriptions do not mean what you think they mean. Description has no impact on use, only scripts matter. The flavor text is at best a convenience.

Indeed, offensive heal is a separate skill from ally heal. Thus why Staff of Recovery doesn't make heal bombing better.

Ah, thanks for pointing that out Krogoth. Seems like I've been had again by stupid item descriptions.
Ah well. Learned something new today.
