Downloading on an older pc - Session - 06-07-2011

Before downloading I wanted to check to see if this computers specs will run HeRo.

----Windows xp, I believe the service packs are up to date. I haven't exactly checked though.

----224 mb of ram

Semi-decent graphics card. Integrated probably. Hell, it runs youtube okay- at least its above what my old sucky computer could do.

Thanks~

(Yes the RO bug is biting my ankles.)

RE: Downloading on an older pc - Session - 06-07-2011

I tried downloading it, but the main hard drive on this computer is chock full. As I've never needed to change which drive to download to, can someone help me out?

I need to know how to take the download and put it on another drive that actually has room.

Asap ~ :D

I'm sure you're computer will run it just fine.??I used to use a computer that only had 128MB of RAM and it worked.??Had to turn down every detail setting to low, turn off the light and fog maps (though, everyone generally has their fog map off anyway), and turn off effects when in the presence of wizards.??It took a tad longer to load maps, but nothing too serious.

The only noticeable difference (besides the obvious lack of shadows and - iirc - night time) was that the animation for the more elaborate effects (like MS, LoV, etc) was really slow.??The sprites, terrain, interface, etc. looks exactly the same.

If you have other drives attached to your computer, then select them from the drop-down menu displayed for you at the top of the "Save to..." window.??You know, like C:, D:, E:, etc..

Also, keep in mind that the installed RO is larger than the RO install file.??So, you'll need to install it to that separate drive as well.??If you're working with such a slow computer, you might want to put the heRO folder in the main root of whichever drive has the most available space with the best serial connection.??Like, an empty 20GB HDD connected directly to your motherboard would be awesome, but an empty 4GB thumb drive would work better than if the 20GB HDD was at 75% capacity and fragged to Hell.??Ok

Thanks Whispers.

I know it can be ran on shitty computers, I know my first one when I played (insertnamehere)Ro back in the day was terrible, just not sure how terrible. I used every trick in the book to make it run xD.

And, I may see about freeing up some space on the main drive. About how big is HeRo's folder nowadays?

Also, when I go to save the exe or whatnot it doesn't give me a save to option. Just, save. .-.;

My heRO folder is 1.83GB.

Anything followed by an ellipsis (...) means that clicking it will open a menu to further specify your specifications.??So, "Save..." is the same as "Save to...".??Ok

Apparently not .-.;

It just auto saved to C:. But I found what was taking half the 10 gig drive up: Benchwarmers. Yes, the movie.

Funny huh? XD

Installing/patching(soon) !! ***Edit***

RE: Downloading on an older pc - Session - 06-07-2011

Oh shit. I see a file for renewal.

Tell me we haven't "upgraded" to it :|

Or did we already and I forget? Thats likely too. -_-a

RE: Downloading on an older pc - Whispers - 06-07-2011

No, we don't have Renewal. Though, I think you have to run those files just to get the updates. Otherwise, RO will freeze every now and again when you warp. =\

RE: Downloading on an older pc - Session - 06-07-2011

What about patch client/anything else?

I'm being a nub, I've about forgotten the swing of things its been so long. installing anyhow.

RE: Downloading on an older pc - Session - 06-07-2011

Can I skip this stupid ass patch client/patcher(renewal) stuff D:

I wanna hop on at least a couple minutes before I go to bed. Gotta be up and busy early in the morning. >_>;
