Another one! Thank you very much Spol, for your review and the kind words in it!

Trivia time! The first custom items ever to be released on HeRO were the elemental wings, the fire and ice ones. Even now, the wings are still very popular, for being relatively easy to obtain elemental armors, plus the stat increases that benefit all classes. The usage of bolts is also very useful for classes such as priest that would otherwise require scrolls to use bolts, or classes that can use elemental sword to activate the spell chains.

If you have some free time and would like to help HeRO, why not give us a small birthday present in the form of a review?

Thank you, Mister_Midnight, for the kind words in your review!

I was going to post today's piece of trivia knowledge later as I have the past few days, but might as well do it now!

Today's trivia is about GMs, specifically GM-Pandora: She is the only original GM/Admin left from the opening of the server! You may not see her around much, but she's still quite involved with HeRO, as she pays for everything related to the server, handles donations, assists with maintenances, revises and releases patches that Ayu or I prepare, and so on.

You may have heard about Lucretia, the now Queen of Faeheim. She's been part of many recent Chronicles storylines and events since I started doing them in the summer of 2015. But did you know the idea of the character dates back to 2012?

Back then, the GM Team was looking to bring back roleplay events and spice up the fairy auctions, and GM-Chaucer had an idea of a fairy that was against Fae/Human interactions. Chaucer and GM-Rahice brainstormed and came up with possible names, among them Devika, Siti, Rena, and Lucretia.

The discussion eventually died down, and months later in the summer of 2013, the name and design of the fairy was posted by GM-Patton: Lucretia, a Gypsy Class, with Cloth Color #135, Hairstyle #70, Hair Color #6, Dark Randgris Helm and Mini Demonic Wings. GM-Radiance prepared a small draft for an event to kick off the story, but it never happened and the project was abandoned.

In the summer of 2015, a few months after I became a GM, I found the story and was interested in reviving it. A sort-of teaser was posted on the forum, and when the time of the auction came, Lucretia attacked!

I played the part of Lucretia, and spawned monsters in Fairyland (now known as Caerulia). Pixie, played by GM-Rahice, assisted players, who could attack Lucretia to fend her off. At one point, Rahice accidentally attacked me and killed Lucretia (She was using GM stats while I had normal player stats to be able to confront players). It was a hysterical moment in the GM Guild Chat, but we improvised and played it off as part of the story, and Lucretia was successfully beaten and ran away.

The intent was originally to make Lucretia a full blown villain, but during another monster invasion where players had to stop Lucretia from attacking Payon Palace, the player Ezekiel Stalker confronted Lucretia. Ezekiel Stalker and another player tried to understand her motives and convince her to stop the attack. It was pretty convincing and hard to counter without making my villain seem villanous for the sake of being villainous, so I changed the course of the story after that event, and fleshed out the character further, with a tragic background that GM-Rahice had once suggested, and introducing the figure of Amdusias.

In time, Lucretia evolved to be somewhat more of an Anti-Hero figure, making less hasty or brash decisions, making peace with her sister Pixie, and even becoming Queen of Faeheim. But how has the Kingdom fared since her ascendance to the throne last year? Maybe we'll soon learn!

Anyway, that's all I can remember right now regarding Lucretia's origins. But, if you have some free time and would like to give back to HeRO in its 14th anniversary month, why not leave a review on RMS? It would be much appreciated?

Thanks, Leander, for reviewing HeRO on RMS! Glad you enjoy the events!

Reminder that during October we are trying to get a review daily as a sort of Birthday Present for the server. If you have some free time and would like to help HeRO, you can leave a review on RMS!

It seems I forgot to post yesterday's trivia, so I will be posting one now and another later tonight!

Since the Crazy Merchant was turned into an NPC, it has been set up approximately 50 times. Before we implemented the NPC version, it used to be a regular vendor on the same GM account that contained the fairy Lucretia, and way before that, it was located in GM-Garr's account, as he used to set the crazy merchant up when he was more active in early 2015 and around 2014. In fact, the name "Crazy Merchant" is still taken by Garr, and I just named the one Rahice and I used in 2015 and 2016 as "Crazy Vendor" instead, but kept referring to it by its original name.

When the crazy merchant was a regular vendor we had to be careful not to set generic items that could be found by @whosells, so we tended to avoid things such as gold or card albums. Even then, there was a minor "bug" that I'm sure some of you have noticed while in town, where if you @whosell an item that's not sold in your current map, it will still mark a random shop on the minimap if there is a shop on the map to begin with.

As of this date and as per the Crazy Merchant Fanboy NPC in Pront, the Top 10 Crazy Merch finders are:

1. Szandou Mabrolo (10)
2. Zurran (3)
3. xxjaneyxx (3)
4. Reach (3)
5. Ezekiel Stalker (2)
6. retaxis (2)
7. Roger Strikes (2)
8. Jubiesan (2)
9. Illarya (2)
10. Angel Kitty (2)

As far as I know it goes by character or account ID, so you may have 2 points but not be on the list because your char/account was created later than the above players. :P

As promised, another bit of HeRO info for today. Did you know the Faeheim region was supposed to be more tropical than what it currently is?

The very first few ideas I had back in 2015 involved using a series of separate tropical island maps taken from the same series of custom maps where Lutia would later come from. One would travel between islands by ship npc, the same way you go from Alberta to Brasilis or to Ayothaya, etc. However, the connectivity felt weird if you just warp around like that.

Pre-made custom maps obtained online seemed like a better option but they turned out to be either too small, too barren, or didn't "connect" well between each other. Eventually after learning how to create RO maps, I decided to create the region myself, using unreleased custom maps as a very rough base.

The first maps to be made were Marasmius Field one and Fortuna Field, which is coincidentally referenced ingame in the region itself as the first areas where Lucretia's expedition crew arrived and set up camp. The next maps that were made were what is now Faeheim field 07~08, and by then the theme I had in mind changed from tropical to what it is now.

The last field maps to be made were Faeheim Field 10 and 12. They were made from scratch, no general base map was used for it, so they might feel slightly different in comparison to the rest. Some blocked roads can also be found on these maps, as well as other parts of the region, to be made accessible in case we explore more of Faeheim later on.

Anyway. If you want to give back to HeRO, how about a birthday present in the form of an RMS review?

Thanks, DraftyGirl, for leaving a review on RMS! I think you meant to say "bots" though!

Today's trivia is short and simple: The first emperium item was obtained in the Orc Dungeon by a Baby Assassin. Until then, the server had no guilds. The options back then were to obtain Emperiums from Orc Zombies at a very low rate, or from Baphomet in the third level of the Forest Labyrinth.

The guild created from the emperium came to be known as Order of Chaos.
