The Dancer's Chronicle - Secret of Transcendence - GM-Ayu - 12-07-2018 "Look everyone, there's Fortuna in the horizon!" As the captain declared that their destinations were in sight, everyone on the boat rushed to the upper deck to take their first look at the Faeheim shorelines. Not everyone had this rare opportunity to visit the newly established region, and I was more than happy to jump from the frozen wilderness of Lutia to a tropical land like Faeheim. Over the past year, there were definite highlights in my life as a dancer in Kaldheim, barring a minor mishap from an overly enthusiastic fan. However, we had saved enough zeny for a new page in our journey. Lutia had recovered from the scars of the Dark Lord's devastation. Her people had moved on with their lives. It seemed like a fitting time for us to continue our travel around the world and bid Lutia farewell. Overjoyed to see the end of the long journey, almost everyone was preparing to land, including my traveling partner since the day we left Grandma Kathy's orphanage together. I was certain that the marvelous sight of Faeheim would inspire him to write many new songs, and it was always fun to perform a new duet with him. His innocent smile, his joyous expression, his angelic voice as he sang from the depth of his heart... I would do anything to keep him safe. But it was then I noticed that not everyone was so optimistic to set foot on solid ground once again. I saw a man quietly packing his many potion bottles, witched starsands, herbs and some complicated looking book into his red ether bag. The repulsive surgical gown shared the same shade of green as his dyed hair. Everything about the man was an eyesore to look at. Why would anyone in their right mind believe that this would be an acceptable fashion sense? How did he have the sense to even walk outside? "Is there a problem, miss?" I must have stared for too long and it caught his attention. I thought that the young man would be the introverted bookworm type who would not dare to speak out. "Oh, I thought that even a doctor will want to wear something different than their work attires for such a long journey. Or did you only pack your books and forgot about clothes?" Oops, that came out wrong... oh well. "And I thought that a dancer off work will want to wear something with decency, for a change." He was no introverted bookworm that stayed within his studies as he snapped back at my remark. I was not expecting the quick verbal jab and stuttered for just a second. The doctor picked up on it again. "Best to leave the word plays to your duet partner. He is much more suited for it than you are given his great talents." I had opened the worse can of worms and I regretted everything about making fun of his appearance. This guy was one snarky son of a bitch. "And I am not a doctor. Could use bit more experience with a scalpel before I can be a doctor." He continued on as if the most ordinary conversation was taking place, after the scathing remark against me. "I am an alchemist, though brewing potions to help the sick in Lutia was my job. What about you then? Why did the most beloved dancer in Kaldheim leave for this place? Perhaps a new hobby in 'Prince fishing'? Though the Prince of Faeheim will probably be an effortless catch for you." Why did everything out of this man's mouth got to be so foul and frustrating? Why did I not apologize when I picked on him? "We have always planned to travel the world, so why not look at the newly re-established land of the fairies? Fortuna is not our final stop though as we plan to head towards the capital first." And it would be farewell to this foul-mouthed fiend once we head off to our separate ways. "Oh really..." The vile man mused. "Why, I am also heading to to the capital. I heard that there was a new botany guild in the city that I am planning to visit. Seems like we will be on the road together!" I glared at him, visibly annoyed which only fed his sadistic amusement. "The name is Flamel, by the way. Oh, and if you need any potions for first degree burns, I got you covered." This trip to Carendel was not off to a good start... RE: A Dancer's Chronicle - Secret of Transcendence - GM-Ayu - 12-30-2018 "Drink up, Basil," I held up the potion to Basil. He coughed and turned his face away in disgust. I could empathize. This latest collaboration between Flamel and Carandel's alchemy guild was supposed to be the most potent of potions, but judging from the smell alone, it must be tough to swallow. However, Granny Kathy always said that bad tasting things were good for our health. "Please Basil, perhaps this time it will help with your lost voice. I am right here." I patted Basil on his back as he reluctantly drank the potion, coughing and wheezing. "Hey... is the potion that bad? Speak up and tell me Basil." Yet there was no verbal response. I was hopeful that Basil would speak up, whine and complain, but there was no words out of his mouth. I sighed, and let Basil rest for the night. I sat in front of the dining table and stared blankly at the soup in front of me. I was in no mood to eat anything. It had been a few months since we were caught up in the sudden invasion of the Unknown in Faeheim. On our way to Carandel, the caravan was attacked by the Scorpion King Nehebko. He took the lives of many. I was fortunate and soon recovered after the battle under the care of the fae and the alchemist guild. In serious times, Flamel was a reliable doctor and alchemist, working tirelessly at the guild to contribute in any way he can. However, Basil was not so fortunate. Although his health mostly recovered, he lost the thing most important to him. His voice. Flamel had personally took over Basil's case, but months had passed by and there was no sign of any improvement. I stayed by Basil's bedside as I watched others reunite with their loved ones, and walk out of the alchemy guild with good health and happy faces. Flamel and I traveled everywhere to collect new herbs and plants in his attempt to brew new potions, but nothing was of any help. There were multiple times I took my frustration out on Flamel, blaming the lack of cure on his incompetence. Deep down, I knew fully well that he stayed up for nights to study and spent all his time to think of new formulas. Flamel was trying his very best to help Basil. I overheard his conversations with other alchemists one night where the others questioned why Flamel chose not to raise his own Homunculus which may help with the success of his brews... but that seemed to be a real sore spot on Flamel as the conversation heated up immensely then. I really wish there was something I can do for Basil. "I guess the potion's no good this time as well?" said Flamel as he took a seat next to me. As much as his snappy tone ticked me off on the way to Carandel, I rather had that over the serious tone from Flamel these days. Basil's condition was dragging down everyone's mood, and my responses towards those trying their best to cure Basil did not help. I kept saying to myself that I would control my temper, but every time I ended up lashing out at Flamel. "Flamel... is there really nothing I can do to help? Anything?" Flamel closed his eyes and did not reply. Had I offended him again? "Seek the help of either the Light or Dark Allegiance. With their resources and network of information available, perhaps they may know of a cure to restore the voice for a mute. I am ashamed to call myself an alchemist yet I am of no value here." sighed Flamel in total defeat. I could barely bring myself under control and could not even thank those who took care of Basil for these months. I was shocked, but also grew in admiration to Flamel as a professional alchemist for being able to admit to his own faults. If only I could be as honest about this situation as he is. "Will they really help me? We are mere orphans and not a cent to our name. We lived off of you and the alchemy guild's generosity..." I asked. "But Prontera is your hometown right? Along with being a hub for many adventurers, there should be people who can help. I also wrote to a nerd friend of mine from Yuno who can help. The bookworm's name is Celia Alde. She will help you." I was moved that Flamel had planned all of this out for me. He must have put a lot of thoughts into it to have asked his friend to help. To embark on a journey back home, how could I leave Basil behind? "I'll stay here to look after Basil. Don't worry about it." But as if on cue, Flamel read my facial expressions and addressed my concerns immediately as he started to head back to his room. "Maybe pick up some 'real' clothes too while you're back home in Prontera." Thank you, Flamel. RE: A Dancer's Chronicle - Secret of Transcendence - GM-Ayu - 01-06-2019 Another day of rejection, another day of sitting here in the corner of the Prontera street with Sage Celia on what to do next. Any attempts to meet with leader of the Dark Allegiance had been futile. They were only welcoming for those who aligned with their beliefs and join the allegiance, but it was different to ask them of any cure to help Basil. Sir Melot and the other leaders of the allegiance had much more "important" things to do than to help a random boy that they do not know about. Even with the standing of a sage by my side to throw in the good words, the Dark Allegiance was uninterested to help and insisted on relying on my own power to help myself. Though the Light Allegiance was more receptive, the meeting with Lady Thea was warm but fruitless. The lady was sympathetic to our plight, but was ultimately did not know of any cure beyond any conventional methods that Flamel and Sage Celia had already suggested. She offered financial support for the alchemist guild in Faeheim, yet I was hoping for... more. "Is this really it...?" I pondered out loud and sighed. "... there may be one last way, but I know very little about it beyond its existence." A small ray of hope! Anything that may cure Basil's lost of his voice. "Why didn't you say it sooner if you know of one other possibility?" I pressed on for Sage Celia to explain further. "There is... the path to Transcendence. Those who braved the way forward were blessed by the Gods to a new life, gaining unprecedented strength, knowledge and wisdom far above the others. Surely you have met some of them in your travel, rather you realize or not. For example, there are knights who may look just like any other, but their strength and abilities far outweigh that of those of the same rank. As signs of respect, these individuals are branded as 'Lord Knights' to show their superiority over all others. I have met with countless who claimed to have been on to this path, and all of them described the process to be reborn anew, almost like a new, stronger body and a chance to do over. At least, that is what's claimed." I could barely contain my excitement. To be reborn would certainly allow Basil to speak once again. "How can Basil and I embark on Transcendence? We must begin to work towards this at once!" However, Sage Celia did not share the same excitement. "I wish I can answer you with certainty about either part. It is the focus on my researches in Yuno, to be honest." When I heard that from Sage Celia, I wondered if Flamel called for her help because he already knew that Transcendence may be the only hope for Basil, and an expert on Transcendence like Sage Celia would be my guide. "All that I know about Transcendence is that the secret is recorded in the Book of Ymir, in the Yuno library." Surely there must be more to this. If the key to Transcendence was located, there must be some catch. "Yet everyone who claims to have went through the Transcendence said that there were words and instructions inscribed upon it. Soon after they would disappear within the Heart of Ymir in Yuno and only be seen again in some other part of the world, already reborn anew. Yet, the book is empty to me and many others... just series of blank pages. The book, chooses its readers. There are evidences where it seems like the book will turn away strong adventurers who by all means, should receive this blessing as well. For example, not a single warrior from the country of Amatsu has attained such strength. Mystical warriors capable of hand to hand combat, assassinations from the shadows, and even magical abilities that resembles those of a mage, you will expect there to be a Transcended ninja warrior to earn the title of a Kagerou or Oboro. Yet all are refused by the Book of Ymir." What a stubborn old book. If only I could bend a book's will with a few whippings like how it worked with people. If Transcendence was the only way to save Basil, then I would think of any way to make its secret be revealed to me one way or another. I did not doubt Sage Celia that she must have interviewed all who were willing to share what Transcendence was like throughout the years, and found no way for a nobody like me or Basil to access this power. But perhaps... "Sage Celia, are... are there any cases of something other than 'people' who have Transcended?" The sage stared questionably at me, so I explained further. "Maybe if, 'other things' have Transcended as well, perhaps they can provide a better answer to how did they accomplish it?" I left the sage to silently ponder to herself at my wild suggestion. It seemed to be impossible to me, but the sage would know a lot more throughout her studies. "It is hard to say it shares any similarities to Transcendence, but there are other creatures who obtained powers far above their kind to be hailed as immortal and revered in other nations. Away from Rune-Midgard in the nations of Gonryun and Louyang, there are stories of snakes ascending into 'godhood'. Though far from invincible, they certainly regenerate and gather their own form again, living up to their title of immortals. If there is such thing as Transcendence for non-humans, then that would be the closest example I can think of--" In the middle of her explanation, Sage Celia suddenly stopped and began casting a spell. A ball of fire appeared and flew in a circular motion around her. I grabbed the Spirit Lash as a response as well and readied myself. Cautiously, we walked around in our vicinity as the ball of flame circled around us on every step, yet I saw nothing. "Nothing... I thought I heard someone around." said the sage. After that, we parted our ways for the day. Gonryun and Louyang... then that shall be the place to start. It would be a perilous journey, but I could not bring myself to give up. I swore that I would not return to Basil in Faeheim until I could find the secret to Transcendence. Please wait for me, Basil. <><><> The woman removed her Hiding Clip from her cape and reappeared in the street alley. It was a close call and was almost discovered. She made sure to be as quiet as possible, yet the sage still somewhat picked up her presence. Were these two the ones who repeatedly asked for an audience with Sir Melot? How interesting... <><><> The next Chronicle of Hero event is on Saturday Jan 12, 11:00 AM server time. This will be a PvM event. RE: A Dancer's Chronicle - Secret of Transcendence - The Roger - 01-06-2019 Wooot! :D time to blow the dust off my paladin! Can Trentini receive Devotion? RE: A Dancer's Chronicle - Secret of Transcendence - GM-Ayu - 01-12-2019 In the Hermit Land, Trentini and her party of adventurers successfully passed through the Shrine of the Gonryun Queen and although it took some time, navigated through the Hermit's Checkers. Throughout the travel of the Hermit Land, the Snake Lord sent his minions every step of the way to stop Trentini's advances to test her strength and resolve. However, the Snake Lord prevailed when he tapped into Hell's Power and isolated Trentini from the adventurer's support. For his victory, the Snake Lord deemed Trentini to be unworthy of his secrets, and refused to share his pathway to Transcendence via Taoism for the troubled young girl. In the Royal Tomb, the White Lady accepted Trentini and her adventurer's challenge. Yet throughout Trentini's descend to the tomb, the White Lady lamented for Trentini's future that Trentini's insistence to Transcendence would lead to nothing but agony and strife. The White Lady's comments and second thoughts from some of the adventurers only aggravated Trentini more, whom threw a small tantrum as a response and ignored their concerns. Though Trentini's group was victorious against the White Lady, they were ambushed by High Wizard Tiamat of the Dark Allegiance. Interested to see who demanded a direct audience with Sir Melot personally, Tiamat presented her magical storms as a trial to gauge Trentini's power and potentials. Throughout the battle, Trentini was repeatedly struck down by Tiamat's spells, though her allies brought her back up and kept the battle going. However, the drawn-out skirmish was enough time for Tiamat to assess Trentini's power. The high wizard acknowledged Trentini's potential, but harshly stated that she had already reached her cap. Eventually, Tiamat retreated, but only acknowledged her defeat by the hands of those who had been selected to Transcend already. It was already late at night when Trentini returned to Prontera. Tired and scarred from the damage sustained in the fruitless battles, the frustrated Trentini dragged her feet back towards the inn... RE: A Dancer's Chronicle - Secret of Transcendence - GM-Ayu - 01-12-2019 Do you really want to reach the state of Transcendence?
Trentini looked around, yet no was there in the quiet night streets of Prontera. How much are you willing to sacrifice and endure for it?
Trentini recalled what another adventurer in Louyang, bounded to the same fate of being denied Transcendence, had said to her... "Nothing gained without blood and tears." As long as she could remember her love and that he could sing with her side by side once again... what else could matter?
... Come with me ...
The Heart Piece of Ymir shall be Your guide RE: The Dancer's Chronicle - Secret of Transcendence - The Legendary Joe - 01-13-2019 Glad Shizuka Mae was insightful. RE: The Dancer's Chronicle - Secret of Transcendence - GM-Ayu - 01-15-2019 "Lady Thea, are you certain about this? Whatever mission you have in mind, I trust in my fellow members of the Light Allegiance that we do not need the help of the Dark Allegiance--" The leader of the Light Allegiance hushed her page to be quiet. "No, I have faith in those who follow the Light Allegiance, but that is not why I am writing this letter to Sir Melot. He is a fellow member in the noble courts of King Ernst in Prontera. Members of both allegiances were injured in the recent assault in the Prontera markets, and as much as the Dark Allegiance will never admit it, but I am sure that some of their members also went missing, similar to those of our own. Sir Melot has the right to know what we have found out. I am sure that he will find it interesting. I am not sure if the Dark Allegiance will accept my request of a joint investigation, but at least the offer is made on our part." Explained Thea. Plus, it felt so good to outmaneuver Melot in the political courts whenever the Light Allegiance could take the initiative and extend a "kind gesture" to a very reactive Dark Allegiance recently. "And are you sure that this is the hospital's address for the boy whom we are sponsoring for his treatment fees in Faeheim?" asked the Light Allegiance leader. "Yes. If my Lady is concerned for the boy's health, shall I ask for a Light member on duty near the area to visit him?" Thea thought to herself about the suggestion. "That is a good suggestion. We should always look out for the well being of our members, especially those who are new and in most need of our assistance. Call for all Light Allegiance members to withdraw from Faeheim, especially its capital. Make the arrangements for ships so that all willing Light Allegiance members can retreat back to Rune-Midgard or Lutia for the time being." The announcement took the page completely off-guard. Should the Light Allegiance not focus on the community and groundwork in Faeheim, just as what they had done in Lutia to establish a foothold in the region? Instead, Thea decided to gather the very best of the Light Allegiance to assemble in Faeheim yet again to be on standby. She strongly believed that once Sir Melot read her personal letter to him, he would do the same for the Dark Allegiance as well. "Is it the Unknown again? Or perhaps the Scorpion King seeks vengeance after the failed siege on the capital?" asked the panicking page. Lady Thea reassured that those threats had been handled by Queen Lucretia and at least for the meantime, and there were no unusual activities from either the escaped Succubus Queen or the Scorpion King. The page raised a question for Lady Thea. "If it is none of those things... what is the major threat to warrant such a drastic response? Also, what does an incident in Prontera have to do with Faeheim?" Lady Thea gave a weak smile. " I, too, hope that I am only overreacting... but I have a bad feeling about all of this." <><><> The next chronicle event is on Saturday, January 19th at 21:30. This will be a PvM event. Participation requirement: Lady Thea forbids those who are inexperienced to remain in Faeheim. It seems that Sir Melot had come to a rare agreement with the Light Allegiance to follow suit. Only the best and strongest are permitted to stay. - You must be level 90 or higher for Transcendence classes - You must be level 95 for non-Transcendence classes You can join regardless of your allegiance, so long as you fulfill the level requirement. Goal: Survive -The party will have 3 GM resurrection available -The party will have no access to storage once the event starts Gears to bring / Preparation -Hell Power is only used on rude attack as a counter -No petrification is present -No change undead is present -There is no wide freeze, but there are freeze spells -Everything else is fair game -Read the chronicle. You'll figure it out. -Did I mention that with the exception of those 3 things there, *everything* is fair game? Like, literally everything. Fair instructions and foreshadowing have been given. You have been warned. You will need your absolute A game. Note: if the event seems to start late and there are no updates on Discord, it means I am still in traffic from work for some reason. I gave myself 90 min in theory already for buffer, but who knows what the snowy season will bring to traffic. RE: The Dancer's Chronicle - Secret of Transcendence - GM-Ayu - 01-16-2019 Minor correction: previously it's stated that Hell Power is not used. It is actually present but only as a counter to rude attacks. Don't troll with ice wall/attacking the boss with ankle snare+webs and you should be fine. RE: The Dancer's Chronicle - Secret of Transcendence - GM-Ayu - 01-23-2019 On Lady Thea's request, the other nobles of Prontera left the Nobility Halls so that she was able to speak with Sir Melot and King Ernst in private. "There must be concerns of the utmost importance to you to make this request for a private audience. Lady Thea, please speak your mind," said King Ernst. The commander of the Light Allegiance bowed as a response. "Your Majesty, I must speak frankly with you about one of Rune Midgart's ally- the Schwartzwald Republic. I am afraid that unspeakable crimes are committed by the republic's Rekenber Corporation on our nation's soil." Lady Thea proceeded to explain her findings regarding the Hospital skirmish. She predicted accurately that the bard Alphoccio Basil was the next target due to the dancer Trentini's influence, and the adventurers clashed with the army of clones under Trentni's lead. In self-defense against the aggressors, the adventurers ended the young woman's life. The dancer found her own answer to being denied the privilege of Transcendence, but she paid the ultimate price. Lady Thea presented some scraps of Research Charts on the clones, and the Light Allegiance's intelligence traced the papers to originate from the Somatology laboratory in Lighthalzen. "Officially, the Laboratory should have seized functioning after the supposed fire outbreak in their basement. Clearly, these charts speak otherwise. Agents from our supposed allies are swaying our citizens to join highly unethical scientific experiments. In some cases, our citizens are even kidnapped on our sovereign soil and targeted for their fame in their profession! Clones of women encountered in the skirmish that night even claimed to be the missing High Priestess Sorin of the Prontera Church, and their powers certainly lend credit to the claim. King Ernst, I suggest that Rune Midgart should denounce these dark dealings of the Rekenber Corporation and re-evaluate our diplomatic relationship with the Schwartzwald Republic." Lady Thea eyed her long time rival and the leader of the Dark Allegiance. "Surely Sir Melot, whose allegiance strongly emphasized individual strength of character, would not stand by as if the Dark Allegiance's strength is of no concern to a rival nation?" King Ernst asked the Dark Allegiance leader to share his opinion on Lady Thea's serious accusations against another nation. "Over the life of one orphan girl in Prontera, Lady Thea would risk the safety of all brave Rune Midgart soldiers across the Dimensional Gorge?" Lady Thea was shocked. She did not anticipate this to be Sir Melot's response. The Dark Allegiance leader continued. "Satan Morroc is wounded, but not defeated. The three major nations of the world formed the Tripartite Alliance to chase the demon across the realms to a new world. How does Lady Thea plan to fill the void of Rekenber should they withdraw their support? Has Lady Thea thought of the worse case scenario, if their forces even turn against our troops in Ash Vacuum? What if Satan Morroc wants his revenge when we are engaged in a fight against the corporation?" "Sir Melot will rather remain helpless and play appeasement to Rekenber's evil?" accused Lady Thea. "To what extend will Sir Melot sees it as the appropriate time for His Majesty to stand his grounds? Perhaps when Rekenber's troops surround the capital city, or is it when the clones knock on the door of King Ernst's private chambers?" "Look at the big picture, Lady Thea! The safety of the entire realm and Satan Morroc is of higher priority. We should instead evaluate how can we use the power of these clones at Rekenber's disposal to hasten our search for the wounded Morroc and finish the the demon off in Ash Vacuum. Rekenber cannot go public with the news of this army. King Ernst, instead I implore you to use Lady Thea's information to our advantage as an important bargaining chip, and negotiate for a more favorable deal for Rune Midgart in our involvement of the Tripartite Alliance." Sir Melot then pivoted his attention to the Light Allegiance leader to address her personal concerns. "As for the girl... Trentini sought aid from both allegiance, and in the end, defecting to Rekenber was her answer. She cast aside her home country for her personal goals and made a foolish choice, but it was her decision to make. She made her bed and her corpse shall lie in it!" After more heated exchange of words, neither allegiance leaders were able to come to any agreement. The king asked both allegiance leader to settle down and requested both allegiance leader for patience. King Ernst asked that neither allegiance to take major actions with regards to the Schwartzwald Republic until further notice, then asked the leaders to take their leave. <><><> Lady Thea stood alone in Prontera's graveyard behind the Prontera church. She asked her attendance for privacy, as she stood in front of Trentini's grave. She could not disobey her liege who asked of her Light Allegiance to stay their hands. Yet her sense of "Justice" burned against her conscience. She could not think of anything but courses of action against Rekenber's evil deeds. The bard Basil was missing from his hospital room during the skirmish, and she could only imagine what happened to him given the series of events... "I have been an administrator for far too long. It is time to relive the days when I was a mere adventurer and rejoin the front lines. If the Lady of the Light Allegiance was restrained to do what is right, then it would be up to Thea, an adventurer like any other, to stand up for Justice!" Do not worry, Trentini. On your behalf, I will personally see that Alphoccio Basil finds rest. <><><> The next chronicle event is on Saturday, January 26th at 19:30. This will be a PvM event. Participation requirement: As Lady Thea is attending on her personal account and not as the leader of the Light Allegiance, there are no restrictions for allegiance count so long as you prove your strength and expertise. - You must be level 90 or higher for Transcendence classes - You must be level 95 for non-Transcendence classes Goal: - Enter the Rekenber Corporation secret laboratory via the sewers in the slums area - Travel to the deepest part of the laboratory - Kill Clown Alphoccio - The party will have 3 GM resurrection available. These can be used whenever requested by the party. - The party will have no access to storage once the event starts - Voice chat on discord will be available Gears to bring / Preparation - Look at the goals. Predict accordingly. - Ask someone who attended last week's event. They have first hand insight on what to do. Lady Thea will accompany the party and assist in the front line, but she cannot be damaged by boss flagged enemies. However, she has abilities beyond that of a regular Paladin to assist the party. |
