Not sure of what class to start... - Ashe - 07-04-2007 02:54 PM

Well, I'm new and I've been meaning to try a new class out. Now, I've played Priest, Hunter, Super Novice, Rogue, Assassin, Professor/Sage, and Wizard... I'm not really into playing the same class over and over. Could someone leave me a few ideas of a class that can satisy the following requirements?

1. Not insanely hard to train solo.
2. Gets party invitations.
3. Not SP-oriented, meaning that I can rely on brute force if I run out of sp.
4. Fun to play... This will be hard.

Just leave a few ideas and reasons why they're fun? :s

hmm, stalkers are fun to play, but theyre pretty hard to solo level... pali/lk get invite because theyre such pro tanks, but they can be hard to train if youre not sure how to use them. Priests are fun to use, easy to train, theyre pretty much sp oriented though, and they get party invites because every group needs a healer =D. only other option id say would be to roll champ, because theyre not totally sp oriented, theyre fairly easy to level (if you healbomb) and they can serve as good healers and theyre fun to play.

I would suggest a lord knight, it's fun to level, I like it at least, or a thief class.

Well, Lord Knight and pally would be nice but getting to transcend would be a pain as a knight, and costly for a crusader. Rogue's are only fun to me for their copying skills, but they're also pretty rough to train as a rogue. I'm tired of priest, I played it on my last server that had a jobchanger. :/

Combo monk? o.o'

I've never played monk before, all I know is that Guilotine Fist is really really cheap. :/

From Namine's experience using all of Mr. Ex's character, would have to say monk as well. They still have the ability to bypass the usual annoyance of traveling, and during training, they have enough SP to heal and buff themselves to make solo training reasonably easy. They still have the same SP problem (and thus cannot always keep up with their combos), but for pvm purposes, their SP usually suffice for their needs.

Monk's problem for Namine is that their stats are incredibly hard to plan out... how much is enough int to get SP to do whatever that Ms. Ashe desires? How much agi/str, and so on... Casters are always very straightforward in this regard most of the time. Thief and swordsman class have the same problem, but never seems to be as much of a struggle as monk when it comes to juggling int together with str, dex and agi/vit/both Icon_biggrin;

I agree, combo monk. They are extremely sp efficient. You can deal huge damage at higher levels, flee many monsters and never drop a single sp except to heal yourself. Which also means you'll never need healing items of any kind. Once you hit 90-95 I highly reccomend changing to OI though, since seals are only good for so long. Technically you can trans on nothing but seals, but I dont understand how people stay sane doing that.

Edit to address Namine: Monk is not that bad. Enough agi for 95% flee, enough dex for 100% hit and The rest in str. Int isn't a huge factor for a combo monk because they dont use active skills asides heal/buff. You'll never need a huge heal amount since you'll be fleeing most of the attacks done to you unless you get mobbed.

Combo monk sounds interesting I might have to make one and see. Also, I'm a male. Icon_razz

Also I took a monk to 97 on seals before leaving the server it was on. I was the 3rd highest level monk of the time, since the server was new. In other words, yeah, combo monks level pretty fast. It's just a really really really redundant job.

To meet the criteria you listed though, this is exactly what you were asking for. Monks can level in more than one ways too, so you can always switch builds. (huge amount of cash to drop though).
