How fast is the speed of dark? - zanias - 02-08-2008 Alright. So my friend asked me, randomly, one day; "so how fast is the speed of dark?" Well... I told him: The speed of dark is infanently faster than the speed of light. I back this clame up with the fact that no matter how many lights there are, there's always a shadow somewhere, hence darkness is infanent. Light is just layed over the dark. He says that the speed of dark is the same as the speed of light. It takes just as long for the room to go dark as it does to light up. My arguement to this is that when you turn a light on the room isn't entirely lit up, just like when you turn the light off the room never seems to go pitch black, so either speeds couldn't be tested in this way. Other theorists say that light and dark are complete opposites, both cancelling each other out. So my question to all of you is, what are your theories? How fast is the speed of dark? Is it faster than light? Is it slower? RE: How fast is the speed of dark? - Kikumaru - 02-09-2008 Hmmm..this is really a tough question. Well, I believe they are opposites. Kind of like Good and Evil. We can think of it this way: Light = + Dark = - When they confront each other, they are about equal in power, meaning..the speed in which they occur will conflict with one another and nobody will ever know how fast which one is. The battle between light and dark will continue until the day we die and even beyond then. I'm not sure if we'll ever have an answer to this, honestly
RE: How fast is the speed of dark? - Former-GM-Mystra - 02-09-2008 Gabriela has the best explanation, just exchange "Royalist" for "Dark" (From Sword of the new World) http://snw.nouveaumonde.free.fr/images/princess_gabriela.jpg RE: How fast is the speed of dark? - Général_Argos - 02-09-2008 Kikumaru Wrote:When they confront each other, they are about equal in power, meaning..the speed in which they occur will conflict with one another and nobody will ever know how fast which one is. The "speed of the dark" is as fast as the speed the light is vanishing. Your friend is right Zanias. RE: How fast is the speed of dark? - Frogboy - 02-09-2008 dark has no speed, as dark never moves. this stems from the theory that light just covers up the dark which means the dark is still there (evidenced by blockage from an object. a.k.a. a shadow). In this regard, no matter where you are, the dark is already there, but the dark is everywhere so there is no way it can move as there is no room for it to move, meaning dark has no speed at all as it takes motion to produce speed. RE: How fast is the speed of dark? - Général_Argos - 02-09-2008 Frogboy Wrote:it takes motion to produce speed. False. Doing something per a unit of time is a speed. If you can type 100 words per minute on a keyboard, thats a speed for exemple. RE: How fast is the speed of dark? - Kikumaru - 02-09-2008 Also, I'd like to point out that..space is pretty dark. I'm sure space isn't just some GIANT shadow, so...how did it get there (and stay there for that matter) without light? In order for it to be there, there had to be a rate of speed in which it got to the location where it is today, unless it just went "BOOM!" and appeared >.>; Even then..the "BOOM!" could be counted as pretty fast, depending on how quick the explosion took place to expand multiple galaxies of darkness (including those wonderful black holes as well). RE: How fast is the speed of dark? - Sephiroth! - 02-09-2008 I would say the speed of darkness would have to be the same speed as light. Think of it this way, for the room to get dark the light has to go away right, well the dark is right behind the light when you turn off the switch. If the dark went faster it would merge with the light and that just cannot happen :p. When I say light, I mean the light rays. G?n?ral_Argos Wrote:Frogboy Wrote:it takes motion to produce speed. That still takes motion, btw. Your fingers are moving while typing and also the computer is doing things withing your screen and harddrive for the letters to appear on the screen. RE: How fast is the speed of dark? - Général_Argos - 02-09-2008 @kikumaru I suggest you take some astrophysic courses when you can, I had one at cegep and it was very interesting, I'm sure you would enjoy. RE: How fast is the speed of dark? - Kikumaru - 02-09-2008 I'm not sure if I would be able to follow of that. It's a bit complicated. I just like thinking about stuff such as this from time to time, lol. Seeing as I couldn't even grasp basic algebra though, yeah..taking a class for something like this would be pointless for someone like me
