Um... I know that there has to be some writers out there on the server. I just thought that maybe there could be a section for the Outside World on the forums for Writing. I know that there's an Art/Creation section, but that kinda sends the msg of pictures, sculptures, gremlins, and stuff.

Hmm. I could go for something like that. I can see what you mean about the Art/Creation section being seemingly geared towards drawings and visual arts, though I don't know that there are enough people on here to warrant a separate section specifically for literary arts.

Personally, I'd enjoy it. My career revolves around creative writing, and I can always use another spot to flex my mental muscles and keep the rust from overtaking my prolific poignant prose.

Alliteration is fun. :3

Roleplay or Story thread...you can write there.

Yes, but isn't that in a game-related sub-forum? As in, roleplay and stories involving the world of RO? Unfortunately, my writing wouldn't really fit there. I shy away from borrowing preexisting worlds and concepts; in a practice of keeping my creative thinking running at full tilt, I try to use only worlds and characters that I create on my own. It's a rule that can be bent, but I prefer it not to be. Same with my roleplaying -- I typically only join the ones that are built from scratch. Call me picky, call it a personality quirk, call it what you want. It's just how I am. ^_^;

I could be persuaded to join an RP or two, but my standards are relatively high. Mostly concerning myself rather than others. My posts tend to be, shall we say, lengthy and.. uhm.. heavily descriptive. >_>

so you dont use any present forms of magic, science, religion and concepts presently used by something else?

The Art section is the right place, I know a lot of people put graphic art, but written is welcomed to, we had poems in the early start of the server ^_^

Ic. Well I thought it was a visual section for graphic arts and paintings, scetches and such.

It's not as cut and dry as that. Magic, science, and religion are all widely spread subjects with many forms and incarnations. When you say any of those words, they could have any number of subtexts. One person's magic is another person's science, which in turn is another person's religion. None of those concepts have a strict meaning. So when I say I prefer originality, I mean I prefer to create my own subtexts. Magic, for instance. Many people think about wands or incantations, where I would create some new use for it or give it a new functionality. See what I'm getting at? The point being that joining an RP where the world and its concepts are already defined by a preexisting medium (in this case, a game) feels constricting to me. I have to modify my ideas to fit within the guidelines of the game. It's nothing against RO, by any means.

Anyway, thanks Pandora. Now that it's all cleared up, I might just do some posting in that area. :D

You should definately read some of Robin Hobb's books. There are many different facets of magic that you can read about and gain some ideas from her books.
