If anyone uses Fraps, I need help - Yuriohs - 08-21-2008 07:14 AM

Fraps is a recording program that records stuff you do on the cpu. I just recently tried to record a WoE, and it worked but 2 things happened.

- I tried to upload it to youtube and it didn't work

- The actual file is HUGE

- I can't upload it on photobucket because its 2 big

Any advice would be appreciated

Did you try to upload the raw footage as outputted by Fraps? ._.

Yes, the raw file is always huge. Try this to help reduce the size:

Quote:DivX: The codec to encode the captured videos or read encoded videos.
http://www.divx.com/divx/download/
It makes them take about 1/70th of the original size.
(12 second: 215mb ->3.2mb).

do what azure said or

download virtualdub and encode it as Xvid.

no matter what, dont try to work with raw footage... way too big.

Thx, but when I drag it it says DivX Converter cannot encode the input file: C?Documents and Settings/Darlene\Desktop\heRO 2008-08-20-21-51-25-46.avi because it contains an invalid video stream.

camtasia >> fraps

if u have divx installed, it'll let u encode in that (or whatever else) codec.

Ive already have all that installed though. I still get the previous error.
Is it because its a .avi file?

Don't use DivX converter. Download VirtualDub, import the raw footage, apply any filters you want to use (resize etc.) and select the relevant codec you want to encode with (Xvid, DivX etc) under Video->Compression. Then save the file (I think you use the Save as AVI option under File).

I'll guess that DivX converter can't handle the size of the raw footage from Fraps (similar to how you can't simply start up the raw footage with media player etc). See how you go with that, anyway.

Tried out the idea, but I got this error

n out-of-bounds memory access (access violation) occurred in module 'DivX'...
...writing address 00000000...
...while compressing frame 0 from 04620020 to 035e0020 using codec "DivX? 6.8.4 Codec (2 Logical CPUs)" (w32videocodecpack.cpp:694)...
...while running thread "Processing" (thread.cpp:159).

no what that means?
