Despite all my efforts, heRO refuses to work.
It patches fine, but when I click "Start", the new window goes up for a split second, and then closes again.
All files seem to be in order.
RO Settings are in order.
Files are up-to-date and patched.
Drivers are up-to-date.
Anyone know what's up? I've even tried reinstalling.

Try playing in full screen mode. That happened to my cousin, but when he put full screen mode he has been able to play fine. Of course he can't play in window mode.
Right now though you won't be able to play since server is down.

And I know, but it'd be nice to be able to reach the login screen for when the server -does- go back up.

Have you installed/downloaded anything prior to RO not working that could be the cause of it?

This happened to me yesterday, check the sound drivers again, or you can always try to set the sounds off at the options screen and see if it works like that.
