job: novice error - Hirothedark - 03-03-2009
Hey guys, I've been reading the forum and have been trying but the same error keeps popping up. I used to have other servers but I uninstalled, deleted the register files, and made a whole new folder for heRO. I used the full installer and even patched it. I made sure my setup was running according to specs, have tried installing heRO again and again for two days, used reg cleaning software, manually made sure that everything was ok in the registry, checked my connection and firewall, and even compared my heRO folder with a friends folder.
I'm still stuck on the same error.
I've got an Intel Celeron 2.53GHz, 1gb of RAM, and I'm running XP, the hard drive I'm using still has 30gb of free space left.
I'll now post the usuall things asked.
Here's my error.

The only thing I see different btw. your folder and mine is :
- I have no Ragnarok thing with the cog?
Why not delete every single kind of rag you have and try downloading the full client again? --if that's not what you did.

Update both, Sakray and heRO and try again.

I updated the sakray and heRO, I also deleted that file you mentioned, but I still get the same error. I'm now downloading a full installer just incase the one I have is actually corrupted.

Yeah, best bet is totally wiping RO and restarting with full client. Then you patch of course, and should be ready to play. :D

I noticed you have no BGM folder. Try changing your setup so that it uses no sound since the initial setup may have BGM on as its default and the first screen you load has sound but no BGM file. Change the Use 2D sound to no sound.

I had no bgm folder for awhile and it didn't mean anything except you don't get any bgm. Not sure if that would be the problem. Im pretty sure it would have to be the multiple servers since that can be a problem if you don't have them all seperated from the beginning.
He said he uninstalled them but that can still leave traces of them so I would go through and delete any trace of any other server.

I downloaded a fresh copy of the full installer, this time the one with the BGM, updated the sakray and heRO, and once again messed with the setup, still nothing. I rechecked my registry and heRO is the only RO currently installed, I saw no other traces of other servers, and the folder is again a new folder.
This is starting to get amusing, but my friends are starting to wonder if I'll ever get to join em.

Try the setup without sound first. That sometimes bugs.

Hmm, that's odd..
I am noticing that the difference between our setups is I have the Voodoo3 thing, that I have no idea what is, unchecked, whereas for you is checked, and you don't have fog enabled.
Just tried my client with voodoo3 checked and I was able to log in, so I'm not really sure what else to say. I doubt any of the setup things are stopping you from playing.

ps : what IS that VooDoo3 thing?..
