Basic Guide: Switching from PvM to WoE
Basic Guide for ?switching? from PvM to WoE
Please see this guide rather as tips then straight guidelines, my goal is to hopefully help people who would like to give WoE a chance or wanna try it but who aren't sure how to start or how to make the ?change? happen.
Pick 1 character and stick to it for WoE
Choose a class you would like to play or consult with your WoE guild what they need or would like you to play. Investigate the possibilities the class has and which roles it can/or will fulfill in WoE, see if it matches your preferences or likes. Pick something you think you will like, its sad to pick a class, gear it up and even reset it to a good WoE build while you might not enjoy playing it.
Don?t be afraid to do some research on builds or look up some guides, remember you are on the internet, its a gold mine of information out there that might help you.
Accept that a character in a full WoE build might not be usefull for PvM anymore*
Specific builds may cause you to not be able to join parties anymore or might make you less ?usefull? in the rolls for certain places. Accept this, its not a bad thing at all. Your better off in WoE with a full WoE build then a half PvM/half WoE build, once you have your WoE character in a good WoE build you will appreciate it more (and also get more survivability) then getting things halfway done.
*Note that this does not count for every class in a WoE specific build.
Use a certain amount of time a day or per week to farm your basic needs
Start slow, don?t push yourself into non stop farming for cards/gears and/or consumables, as this usually takes the fun away from playing. If you spend about an hour a day farming either cards or consumables a day you will see it feels much more pleasant then farming for something for hours and not feel rewarded out of it.
Farming materials might feel like a boring or time consuming matter but you can also see it as a way of combining multiple things at the same time. You can level up a character while farming consumables and hunting certain places or monsters, will also offer you a chance to farm items for your PvM characters while farming for consumables or other items for WoE at the same time.
Once you have your basic items you can keep this up to work your way up to improvement.
Focus on basic needs first before jumping into the more ?advanced? things like BG
As much as we all like to be useful as soon as we can, you?re better off getting your basics straight first. Focus on getting basic WoE gears and some consumables before trying to jump to things that may still be a bit out of your league. Once you have a start you can always work your way up from there, there is always room for improvement but that doesn?t mean you have to go straight to the top. Rome wasn?t built in one day either!
Learn from your mistakes and see it as a motivation to improve
Don?t feel bad or get dis-encouraged by loses or by other guilds, keep in mind some players have a long history when it comes to WoE and have more experience when it comes to playing in WoE. See it as a way to learn from things and a way to improve from mistakes or how to handle in certain situations for the future.
