getting gifts from the forum?
i thought the RP board was there for that reason... /!;

anyhoo, considering how some people post a lot more junk than others, i would not recommend an automated system as it would become prone to abuse...

doing it manually is too much work and would probably also be prone to more human problems such as bias, envy, etc...

i enjoy the forums for keeping me company at work when i can't log in anyway... and to me it's already quite informative and rewarding -> getting better deals from the B/S/A threads, getting specific items that vendors in pront might not possess, etc...

meritocracy is a good thing, but i think for this particular case, forum dwellers are already at an advantage than other players...

I tell them the forums.
I even tell that what areas of the forums.
To which they've asked how to get to the forums, and snapped back "I can;t find it. Can you go do it?" straight away, when they haven't even had time to look. <<


People need to learn that the forums are there as a source of info.


In this specific case though, someone had been constantly asking for days if ToH was announced yet, and people kept saying no. So I said they can check on the forums.
Then started the "But people don't want to have to! You should just them in game!" cries. XD
There's an NPC in game for you to check at too, people. :<

yes ina, but they're nubs. though something very important that they won't find out about anywhere else other than on the forums is the day of the great fairy auction. maybe i could make an event calendar npc (unless we've already got one, or panda doesn't want something like that) for the GMs to use for major events to be posted for future reference. granted this would give those too lazy to check the forums or even find them more of an excuse not to come here.

Its called "lern2alttab". Takes nothing more than a flick of two fingers, and you're looking at your preferred source of RO information (I always have RMS on alt tab). I do it all the time. Even for schoolwork.

Personally, if they cannot even move their hands to navigate to the forums, or even have enough thought process to find where the topic they needed is, that strikes me just as bad as begging.
