adjusting framerate/reducing lag?
i played elder scrolls of morrowind and had a similar problem--after a while of playing, everything is slow, the computer barely registers a mouseclick, i have to press long hard and click more than once.

i helped this problem on the other game by downloading something that adjusted the framerate.....does anyone know how i could do that for ragnarok?

or any ideas on why its slowing down? its clearly my computer, not the internet connection.

running windows xp pro, pentium M 1600mhz, 589 mhz 2 GB ram.

thanks!

Well there's your problem. Your processor is weak. In this day and age I wouldn't get anything with less than 2ghz of power if you're planning on doing gaming on it.

What you could do I suppose is open your setup.exe and lower the texture and sprite quality, it might give you better performance

It isn't weak for RO, I used to play it on a PentiumIII-600mhz =p

Sadly I don't have any idea on how to fix what you have since I've never seen this problem before...
Maybe your processor is overheating? Try to check its temperature when it starts lagging. Your HDD can be a bit full too, leave at least 500mb~1gb of free space.
My last advice is reinstall heRO and see if the problem remains.

RE: adjusting framerate/reducing lag?
open up the run menu and type in regedit

BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY!

go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
---->Software
---->Gravity Soft
---->Ragnarok
Find the registry value BITPERPIXEL and change it to 8

As far as why it's slowing down it sounds like either a memory leak or your processor just can't keep up. Probably both. You should play in low res with low settings if you're not already.

Kadar. What symptoms would the bitperpixel change? 1-5 minute freezes? I have 1.7 Ghz 560 mg of ram I should be able to run RO no problem, and my connection is a solid unrelenting 9800kb/s. Would the bitperpixel thing fix RO's 'freezing'? I get 1-5-10 minute freezes..

RE: adjusting framerate/reducing lag?
Lowering Bitperpixel lets your computer use less resources to display colors and frames in RO. Should let your graphics draw faster.

Long freezes like that sounds like a connection problem to me. If your connection to the server is cutting out then that's the kind of thing that happens. Try turning on frameskip with /skip ingame. Maybe it will catch up faster when your connection comes back. Even if your connection to the internet is steady the connection to the server itself can be slow based on distance to the server and the current load put on the server machine atm.

If it's not specific to RO, it sounds like a graphics card problem. What graphics card are you using? If I had to make a guess, you're running on a laptop with no dedicated graphics memory that borrows from your system ram. Not the easiest thing to "fix", however.

And I'm going to agree with Mass: I used to run RO just fine on an old Athlon 700, but with a decent enough ATI card that there were never issues. Processor is pretty much irrelevant to this problem.

If it's a laptop, it's possible it's not even sharing from his RAM yet.

If it is a graphics chip, with that RAM, (especially being on XP), he should easily be able to share the graphics with his RAM.

I survive with an 8MB graphics chipset, but sharing with my RAM.
Gogo now 220mb graphics. XD
