Multiple RO Clients?
Hello, all!

New to the server and just curious: Is it possible to have more than one RO client installed at one time? I'm coming to this server from somewhere else and just wondering how to properly install heRO.

I'm assuming I don't need to download the Full-Install Client, but I'm not sure what to download and what to do with it once I've got it. Will installing heRO wipe out my old server's client? Will they be installed side-by-side, allowing me to still use my old server AND heRO?

I just don't want to make a mistake, so any assistance would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance, all! Can't wait to see you inside the game!

Downloading heRO will not delete any other server info you have. I'd download the full client, personally, and it only takes about an hour, usually.

Welcome to the server. :)

If you have a vanilla install of RO I recommend then copying that folder and downloading our lite installer for heRO.

If not, I recommend the full installer.

It doesn't work too good to have two clients in the same folder at the same time.

First of all, thanks for the speedy replies!!

Looks like the full installer is the way to go. Could I at least copy the BGM folder from my old install so I don't have to DL that again?

It should be fine as long as you install it into a different dir. However, it probably won't allow you to run both at the same time.

You might also be able to merge them into one if you add the other servers grf files into your ro folder, edit DATA.INI to include the grf from the other server, and edit sclientinfo.xml to have both servers listed, that way you can choose which server to connect to when you start the game. Saves some disk space if you can get it to work. There is a pretty big chance of messing something up however, so if you're not the technical type just install it into a different dir.

So the key is just to install it into a separate directory?

I like the sound of that merging business, but it seems to easy to mess up, so I probably won't do that.??In the end, I'm getting rid of the old server anyway.??I'll be a heRO through and through when it's all over.

Thanks again for all the replies, everyone!??Icon_smile

Thanks very much, L. Malady! I did get it to work and I've been enjoying myself very much. Still trudging through all the early n00b levels, so I haven't really gotten to explore much, but it's been nice so far.

Thanks again for all the input from everyone! Glad to know that I'm now a part of such a supportive community! Icon_smile
