@Higurashi no Naku Koroni- I was asked by my best friend to watch it, and we went under the bet that I'll be instantly hooked if I just watch 1 episode. I went the extra mile to watch the first 4 episode in case if it turns out to be a Haruhi (where you must live past the first episode to get to really like it).

I won the bet in that one. I was not the most remotely interested in seeing the background of the town and reality of the incident. I ended that series and quitted it after 1st arc.
