They lacked serious coordination, all they had to do was let his Angels freeze him or let the sage freeze then Asura him. Instead they were wasting their time and resources while doing no serious damage.

or trowa needs to focus on less dex and more strength cuz frozen asura didnt kill mercant @_@.

Sometimes he forgets to switch from Marina Waghn to Bloody Chain and ends up with a nub Asura. His STR is good enough, like I said, they need coordination and they would've taken him out in 5 seconds
