The world doesn't end.
The sun goes out.
And a few humans adapt, and hence change into animals.

When the sun was washed out, we became fish.
When it was blown out by the wind, we grew tails to hold onto the trees, and became the monkeys.



Oh, by the way, there's supposed to be a comet visiting Earth in December 2012, too. Maybe it'll miss, and hit the sun. And the dust will make us become camels.
