The reason @die was removed is that lots of people used it to leave quest rooms, where only one person at a time can be. However, as the room only recongnizes leaving via the NPC the room (and thus the quest) was blocked for everyone until the server rebooted...
Even a 1hr cooldown wouldn't get rid of that issue...
