and mlk is martin luther king jr. The person often symbolized as the leader of the civil rights moment in the united states. During that time the minorities had less rights than the majority by law and he fought to change that (its not perfect but its better than it was ). So I would think the minority rules event would be an appropriate homage given the resent holiday.
