My smith is level 92 Agi/Str type and has no probs with the map even if all I wear is like a freaking VVS Earth Axe. :s

Granted I spam pots like a bish but that's just how it is la la la.

Pots = weight. Weight = less pick/bait. It's not really worth it at the advanced mining spot unless you're a str alch with a high level homunculus (at least imo).
