Honestly just having a timer at-all achieves the purpose. Its fairly inefficient to overlap other converters, and users will want to be checking their skill bar, item info, and even color coding when using a converter -- not so much applying it and seeing which one it was from icon.
Still, option two looks better cosmetically. But that's about the only difference from my point of view.
I'm a bit excited, this looks to be working well. I tip my hat to you. =)
