After a fruitful day of intercepting messengers attempting to deliver fabricated news of an attack on the Dark Allegiance, came an even more fruitful evening of interrogating them. Then, came time for the confrontation.
East of Aldebaran, and behind the Light Allegiance headquarters, Lady Thea, Councilwoman Maristella and Councilman Nereus appeared, via portal. A handful of troops came in after them. Their goal was to capture the spy before they even knew they'd been discovered.
Nereus, who was under "supervision" since The Seer's escape, had finally been allowed to leave his home.
"I'm still offended you would ever doubt me, but I have found it in my heart to forgiv--"
"Let's not pretend you're a victim." Maristella interrupted him. She motioned to her troops behind her, as she was about to give orders.
"You four, get an antiport field around the building and don't let anyone leave. You two stay with me."
"Deidra fooled us all." Thea responded to Nereus.
"I apologize for doubting your loyalty." It didn't sound like she wanted to apologize to him, but Nereus simply smirked back at her.
Lady Thea approached the back wall of the headquarter, placed her palm on it, and began muttering something. A portion of the wall began to fade away, revealing a hidden door.
The headquarter's usual busy hallways were empty. Everyone had either gone home or were in the living quarters—the group's target. The three council members and two troops slowly made their way to the quarters where Deidra had been working on for the past few days.
Now just one long hall away from their target, they encountered a guard, unconscious on the floor. Nereus woke him up with a resurrection spell.
"Some assassin popped up right in front of me..." The guard mumbled, rubbing his bloody, broken nose.
Nereus quickly mustered up a bluish white ball of light to reveal nearby cloaked assassins, while Thea put on her special pair of glasses, and donned her trusty shield and blade.
"It couldn't have been long ago..." Maristella guessed.
"Someone would have seen this happen."
Thea glanced around the room.
"I don't think I see anyone else in the hall." She said.
"Deidra's gone already." Nereus reminded everyone, motioning for them to hurry.
"Wait..." Thea muttered, narrowing her eyes trying to see something.
"Let's just search her room for clues." Nereus replied as he walked on ahead of the group.
"Wait!" Thea shouted back, regrettably too late, as Nereus had tripped a wire. He quickly shielded himself with Kyrie Eleison, as an explosion in Deidra's room sent parts of the door flying. Thea jumped back and protected Maristella and the troops with her shield as best as she could.
The blast seemed to be aimed more at causing chaos rather than harm, but Thea preferred safety over being sorry. She made sure everyone was alright, and lead the way to Deidra's room, which had been emptied of all of her belongings.
"What now?" Maristella asked Thea, who was looking out the room's broken windows.
"Now... we wait for Melot's next move."
