Meh Archer Bug

My archer i BELIEVE is bugged because I cannot start the Bard quest. When I talk to Father Christmas he wont give me any items. Ive tried talking to him like 20 times and walking in and out of the house numerous times. So I really dont understand why I cant start the quest. If you would check it out that would be nice. Thanks.
