RE: Computer crashing when playing heRO.

Lol IDK, maybe it has something to do with the new updates with all the snow melting panda just released? Try getting that patch if you haven't already, and if youve already had heRO downloaded for a couple of months...
If it doesn't go wrong for somebody else you can't really blame the server either Icon_razz It may just be that your computer can't read some kind of file as well as other computers IDK, but try the patch.

RE: Computer crashing when playing heRO.

I believe I managed to solve the problem, or atleast I hope so. Instead of using the RO DLLs from RMS, I downloaded kRagnarok. Perhaps there was something with the files from RMS, but I'm able to walk through a few warps that crashed me before. I'll post again if this didn't solve it.

[EDIT]
Nevermind, it just happend again. I might just have to give up on RO. :x

RE: Computer crashing when playing heRO.

How about you try out 1 file full installer? Maybe that would work, try installing it to a different folder than you already have (if you got enough space).

RE: Computer crashing when playing heRO.

I'm playing with the Full Installer now, and I made a few other changes (Enabled Fog in Setup.exe etc). I havn't crashed yet, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to. :z

EDIT:
Right. Minutes after posting that, I crash. I should stop posting when things work as they should. /swt

RE: Computer crashing when playing heRO.

you crash or your computer crashes? There's a bit of a difference, if it's a gravity error you are probably just getting the map load crash which usually goes in conjunction with aura's being on.

:edit:

few suggestions while waiting.

Go into the settings and turn all sound off, also make sure the right GFX card is chosen. Double check the amount of available RAM you have too. Make sure your sound and graphics drivers are up to date, and if you are low on memory, get some more. All of these things can independently crash your game and/or your computer.

As I wrote in the first post, it's my computer, not just heRO.

Sound is disabled already. I have 2048Mb of memory, so unless heRO uses ~1400Mb of memory I should be fine.

Where do I choose graphics card? I can choose between "Direct3D HAL" and "Direct3D T&L HAL", and I've tried both.
I updated my graphics card drivers a few days ago, just after I made the first post. My nForce drivers are also up to date (onboard sound).

EDIT:
With heRO running, my computer seems to use about 700/2048 Mb of memory.

While that is true, I only experience these crashes while I play heRO. If my memory was too low etc, I don't see why I can play WoW (with fairly high settings) and not crash.

Do you play full screen or window?

Did you try our DLL pack?

Tried both. Right now I'm sticking to window mode though, since it didn't seem to matter.

I assume the "DLL pack" is basically the same thing as the "DLL pack" that I downloaded from RMS.net? If that's the case, then yeah, I've tried that.

I'll wait and see if Loki's solution solved the problem, if not, I guess there'll be more posts.

Thanks for all the help so far. ~
