Um this may seem like a stupid Question to all experienced players, but What is Botting?

I'm sorry if I may have missed it on the Board somewhere, its just I keep seeing people getting banned for it and since I don't know what it is I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing it myself.

Botting is where you pretty much use a program to play RO for you.
Usually, to hunt items, because people are lazy. D=


You can usually recognise them if someone if hunting most things around them, and if you talk to them, you get no response. (hence the moving and killing part. XD If they are not moving, they may just be AFK. =P)

Like Ellie said, it's using a program to play for you, while everyone has to earn their levels and items, botters cheat them.

Don't worry, this is not something you can do accidentally ^_^; but if a GM checks you for botting, remember to always answer and comply with what they ask.

Ok. Is sitting AFK without a chat box open bad cause sometimes I forget, but I never let anyone touch my Laptop.

only if you're in a field, and you have a homunc set to kill without question

and of course no mining / fishing by program

if you're just afking in pront or any other city its okay, chatbox or not (however no chat boxes off the sidewalks(merchant highway)

Its also if you teach yourself to sleep and mine unconsciously. I haven't worked out how to answer bot checks while sleeping yet...

Fates if you (or anyone else) ever cites that as a reason for failing a bot/macro check I'm going to laugh at you (them) for weeks.

@Snowhawk if you don't have a homunculus you can afk anywhere you want be it field, dungeon or town (at your own risk if there are aggro monsters) there is no need to have a chat room up. If you are an alchemist/creator and have a homunculus however, do not afk with it attacking or in a situation that it could potentially attack (afk-leveling is forbidden).
