RE: Failed to Connect - Have Tried A lot
Thanks Frogboy.

I'll try extracting the sclientinfo file and give that a whirl. I also asked a few of my mates from around the world to ping the server address, but they received the same error, so I'm guessing the server just doesn't respond to ping requests or something.

I did try the _M/_F when logging in, but received the same error, ie: Failed to Connect. My account is actually a year or so old, since I've already got a character on the server which I haven't touched in a long time. I haven't tried a different account, that might be something to test as well.

@Cosmo: Did they tell you what they fixed in order for you to play? That would really help~

RE: Failed to Connect - Have Tried A lot
Ok well I tried the sclientinfo thing and that didn't work.
I did find something that DID work though, it was only temporary. I used a program called HTTP-Tunnel which allowed me to use my HTTP ports as a gateway to whatever it is I wanted to connect to. Of course this program used a proxy of some sort, and if I wanted the full speed, I would've had to pay money which I don't. It did say I had a firewall in place (that I am unaware of) and that was causing the issue. I did manage to get on though, the speed was capped.

So I reformatted and reinstalled Windows.
... and it still doesn't work properly. I do have Comodo Firewall monitoring everything, and it's TRYING to connect, but it's not being allowed for some reason.

This is what Comodo is reporting:

heRO.exe
Source:
TCP Out: 192.168.1.24:1387 (this is my internal LAN Static IP)

Destination:
24.201.55.164:6900

But it still won't connect. It's trying, but not succeeding =(

Ideas? >.<

RE: Failed to Connect - Have Tried A lot
not sure how much you want to try this...

are u using a router???a router-switch???or a switch???you said before that u configured a DMZ which most likely means you installed a piece of hardware between your ISP's connection and your computer.??then i am guessing your network looks like:

ISP--Connection from ISP--Your router/switch--Computer

Connection from ISP
- cable modem or DSL filter plug thingy
- hardware from ISP, usually has only one outgoing port

Your router/switch
- usually has more than 1 outgoing port
- has a ton of config settings

To figure out where the problem lies, u can try the following.

1. Reformat Windows
2. If Comodo is installed automatically, uninstall it or turn it off completely
3. Install Hero
4. Connect directly to your ISP, no router/switch in the middle
5. Log on to hero

If you are able to login to hero, the problem lies with comodo or your router/switch.??If you "fail to connect", the problem is with hero or your ISP (call techs like cosmopolite did).??lots of steps but u'll narrow the problem down.

easiest method:

1. borrow a friend's laptop.
2. install hero
3. try from your place
4. try from your friend's place

if your friend isn't using the same setup and isp as u and you connect, then u ruled out hero server as being the problem.??if u fail to connect, you can't rule out anything though.??

pinging doesn't always work. lots of routers somewhere along the chain block it for security reasons.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, we'll get it working Niku.

May sound silly, but have you tried just adding heRO to the list of trusted App of comodo?

RE: Failed to Connect - Have Tried A lot
Hey n3xus,
Thanks for the ideas.

This is my usual setup:

My computer > LAN Cable > Router > Wireless Internet ISP

I have just reformatted Windows to rule out any Windows errors. It's a fresh install, with little applications installed right now. Comodo is installed, but it is correctly configured (HeRO.exe is a Trusted Application, ports 5121, 6121 and 6900 are all open).

I have tried connecting normally through the Router, but it didn't work. I also tried connecting with the Modem directly hooked up to my PC, and that didn't work either. I've got a feeling it's some sort of Hardware Firewall which is blocking me. I'm just not sure where. I can't seem to log into the Modem Interface (I've been told it doesn't have one) and the only mention of a Modem in the Router is the SPI Firewall, which has been recommended to NOT disable. The Router has a tonne of ports open, including the same as Comodo above.

I will be going over to my parent's place in a couple of days to test out there. I have all my old network gear, and a stable non-wireless Internet Connection there, so I'll give that a go.

For the record, I have tested other RO servers to make sure it wasn't just HeRO and I have been unsuccessful to log into any of them. The only time I could log into ANY server was using that HTTP-Tunnel software, which I really don't want to use/pay for.

I'll let you guys now if I find anything out. Thanks for all the help!

Can you try disabling Comodo, just to test?

What anti-virus do you have? We had issues a while back with AVG I think, it detected RO as a virus >_<

RE: Failed to Connect - Have Tried A lot
I have disabled Comodo (as in, tried it without Comodo Installed, and also tried it with Comodo off) and both times were a negative.

The only way that was worked so far (albeit REALLY slow) was using HTTP-Tunnel, to tunnel it's way through my configuration. Unfortunately, if I want to use this service at full speed, I need to pay which I don't really want to.

It wouldn't be something to do with my location, would it? Lol. Sydney, Australia is where I'm connecting from. I don't need to use some sort of a proxy to access HeRO, do I? =S

Nope, we got other Australian players and they don't see to have that kind of problem.

Running out of ideas, hmmm what kind of computer/os is it?
