HeRO client supports Crossover Games?
I have a question.
I use a MacBook with VMware Fusion on it and have tried to play HeRO on it but it doesn't work.
So i tried using "Crossover Games" to install HeRO FULL client but it wouldn't install.

My question is: Does HeRO client support Crossover games?

Thank you.

RE: HeRO client supports Crossover Games?
I managed to get heRO running on my iMac with Crossover Games 7.1.1.
Not sure if you can get the installer to work properly though, I installed it first under virtualbox, but there it wouldn't run because it didn't accept the graphics driver. So I just copied the directory to a crossover bottle and there it runs (though not better than 800x600 resolution).
When I get home from work I'll try to find the info for getting it to run there, you need two dlls.

I have a question: By "Directory" you mean the floder where all the RO files are in?
I mean the "C: Program files\Gravity\RO"?

iro forums Wrote:I currently recommend using version 7.1.1 of CrossOver Games because it has a higher compatibility with Ragnar?k Online than the latest version (7.2.0).

?? 1. Save the Windows libraries mfc42.dll and msvcp60.dll locally.

?? 2. Download CrossOver Games by either registering to evaluate it or purchasing it.

?? 3. Copy CrossOver Games to your applications folder if you wish, then open CrossOver Games.

?? 4. From the main menu, choose ?configure?, ?manage bottles?.

?? 5. Press the add button under the list of bottles (it's labelled with an addition symbol).

?? 6. Name the bottle ?IRO?, or something similarly descriptive, then press ?create?.

?? 7. Open the ?advanced? tab, then press ?open C: drive in Finder?.

?? 8. In the new Finder window which is opened, open the ?windows? folder, then move the two Windows library files you saved earlier (mfc42.dll and msvcp60.dll) to the ?system32? folder.

9. Copy the folder from vmware to the wine bottle.

Now you should be able to run the game, run with 800x600 resolution first since that seems to be the most compatible mode. If you can connect and log in then you're done here.

Next step is the hardest one, there is a bug with wine and ro private servers, it will try to connect to the wrong ip address. You have to be allowed to read /dev/bpf*

10. Start the terminal or X11.

11. Make sure that no program that uses the network is running.

12. In the terminal type: /usr/sbin/tcpdump

13. Start heRO and try to log in.

14. After you see the "Failed to connect" message, select the terminal and hit ctrl-c.

15. You should see an attempt to connect to an ip address with port 6900. Take a note of the ip.

You will have to add a rule to redirect that ipaddress to heroserver.bounceme.net. How you do that depends on how you're connected, I use iptables on my linux server that is acting firewall.

yes, I mean that folder.

Another way to get it running is to use bootcamp and install windows on the mac.

How do I copy the Directory to the wine bottle?
I tried opening the C: Program files and copied the Gravity file there but nothing happened.

RE: HeRO client supports Crossover Games?
I have much of a similar problem. I'm running Arch Linux x86_64 and try to install heRo full with bgm using wine-1.1.19.
I get the background picture, but not the installshield wizard (or whatever that thing is called). Is there either a way to get that wizard or an alternative way to install heRo?

Thanks for your concern.

I'm not entirely sure how to copy files from the virtual machine to the host with vmware...
In virtualbox you can set up a folder to be shared between vm and host...

I will try to make sure there is a rar with all the files for those who cannot get the installer working (wine doesn't seem to be that good at running installers).

RE: HeRO client supports Crossover Games?
I meant by "C: program files" the one the bottle creates.
I have the "Gravity\RO" folder copied from VMware to my Mac but to which folder in the bottle should I move it?
I mean I did all the steps with no problem but you said in step 9:
9. Copy the folder from vmware to the wine bottle.

to which folder in the wine bottle?
