hopefully so... those sub-sea cables are the backbone of international interconnectedness... ppl in SE asia especially knows what happened when the sub-sea cables in the south china sea was disrupted...

Well.... I still lag, and my country have recently completed an additional sea cable.

Any Idea when the SMW4 Europe-Asia Cable will be repaired Aki?

....But the server sits in Canada, but wait my countries new cable should maybe link with the SMW4, but what about the old one around in the Atlantic, linking Africa through the Atlantic Ocean?

SEACOM however said this morning that the latest notification it received from SEA-ME-WE 4 indicated that the repair work is expected to be completed by 22.00 on 28 April 2010 (UTC).

Thats 18.00 server time today, so I guess we'll know soon if the cable was the cause or not.

Well, so I went and googled undersea cables..... a while later i saw the world map. Europe < North America < Asia < Europe, looks buzzy. Then I went down to the area where I live, one line (other sites shows more) on the east and west coast of Africa. One to Europe, the other to the middle east.

The west coast is said to get a upgrade to be finished in 2011. 3000 something gig =D. But all is to Europe.

Well, not really soon considering the problem happened two weeks ago.

But it didn't fail completly, the problem was in such a way that the cable continued to operate. But they had to cut the cable to do the repair, so right now the cable is down completly.

The cable that we are discussing is on that map you linked to btw. Its the red line that passes trough Marseille, France and Mumbai, India.
