Okay since the crappy looking Binocs make my character seem like a clown though i really need the dex. I'm going to suggest a gear.
So its like "Invisible Middle Headgear"
What this basically does is that it just masks the midgear you're wearing so you can actually see your face.
I dont know much about programming/scripting so I'm not sure whether is this viable or not. If it is, I would suggest implementing it into the V4P system to encourage more variety.
I think the closest thing you'll get to this is the Gemmed Sallet which has always had a lack of a sprite, and appeared like you were naked. but that's for upper headgear. Otherwise, there is Nobility gem like Hiro said.
It sucks, but sometimes you have to pick and choose. Fashion, or Functionality. There isn't really a compromise unless you have 25 m or a buncha gold stashed away.
lol Binocs..... this has happened in my previous sever b4.. and so many wizzards abused this. they all put Binocs into some other item (which changed the job requirements) and wore them for the dex.....
