...I've had one for a great good while now (at least two years).??No, it's not for sale.

I haven't used it because I've received varying descriptions of what can and can not be obtained with it.

I've been told that the RMS definition is misleading and that it actually gives the refine rate's respective points to your overall cast time (max of 10 from 150) instead of a percentage (15 if you've 150 cast time/dex).??I've been told that since it is a percentage, it will never give you instacast.??I've been told that it is absolutely pointless and that pope's mitre has greater benefit since it automatically reduces cast time by 10% or adds 10 to cast time or something.

My question is:??is the description given in RMS correct?

Theoretically, if I have 137 total dex, will a Kathryne Keyron card on a +10 [random hat] give me instacast???(137+10%[13.7]=150[.7])

It makes sense to me, but I've received two years of differing points of view on this and I don't have access to a test server atm.
I could get the RMS test server extension again, but, meh.??An extra RO client is too much space on my 93GB HDD (which only has 15GB remaining and Windows needs that much available to defrag).??=\

It is the cast time that it is reducing, not icreasing your dex.

SO, with the situation that you have above, you have to think about the spell that you're casting, we'll stick with storm gust for the easy math. SG, has a cast time of 15 seconds, each 15 dex reduces cast time by 10%, so with that dex, you're reducing it by 91.3333% which results in reducing your cast time by 13.7 leaving a cast time of a cast time of about 1.3 seconds.

The card would then take THAT CAST TIME, not your core cast time, but this post-dex cast time, and reduce this by 10 (if put in a +10 item) which would reduce it by .13, which would make your cast time 1.19 seconds.

The only way to get instant cast with %-based cast time reductions is to stack 100% cast time reduction (which is actually possible, given the right cards/gear - but good luck getting them).

Completely unrelated to the card but related to your hard drive woes... if you hit up portableapps.com for the app jkdefrag, that one needs a very small amount of available space. I don't remember if it's an in-place defrag, but I do know that my 160 GB drive with about 3 free gigs can be defragged by it.
