I've always done Thara Frog/hydra card hunting... I have already found 4 cards and I only just started on this server . I'll try some of the other suggestion for variety (as card hunting in one map all day can make one a little batty)
Most important thing for me was investing wisely. Buying only things you will make the money back for. When I started my Hunter, bought a Ulles Cap+Odins Blessing, for the SP reduction of -10%. That would make each double strafe 10 SP. Bought an Earth Deleter card for the OB and a Windy Bow. Obviously I had a bit of money prior to, but once you get a little established, I abused hill-winds from 75-98. I made all my money back and then some. It's a lot of grinding, but it paid off well for me.
Putting an earth deleter in zodiacs will not only reduce your sp consumption but turn it into infinite sp if you can DS something in one shot. You'll gain twice the sp per kill that the odins would give because of the wings double card effect. No need for ulles or the odins. Leaving you free to self buff without worrying about the sp cost of those skills.
Given that your new and most likely didn't know about these wings what you did was quite smart. The list of items required to make the wings may seem long but is well worth it. Upgrade to zods and you'll be glad you did.
(I am aware that ToH wings do the same thing but better, but are not practical for new players to obtain)
These prices are subject to change based on current market but should stay around that number as they have over the years. (they have been for at least 4 years and only flux slightly)
I hope these help new folk get established. Besides the zipper bears these are extremely easy to farm they just take longer than thara/hydra in the kills/hour area.
