I seem to be completely unable to connect to the HeRO server. The patcher works just fine, but that seems to be about it.
Background:
- I played HeRO from the west coast, on my home computer, I am currently on the east coast, with my work computer. Maybe that's an issue.
- I checked the firewall and antivirus and gave HeRO all permissions it could ever want.
- I do of course start??HeRO as administrator.
- Connections on my work computer are unrestricted.
- I tried reinstalling HeRO.
- I tried different versions of the client (such as the no death ones) to see if that does something.
- Even though I used the full installer, I checked if installing the mini installer on top of the full installer might help anything. The problem persists.
- My computer hardware and software is sufficient, so is the speed and stability of the connection.
- The error message I get is "Failed to connect to server".
- The server was up and about 250 people were connected.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Traffic in DC is great since the shutdown.

First, (if you haven't done this yet) right click heRO.exe then click in "Properties" and set it to run in compatibility mode. The window should look similar to this one, from my installation guide:
Another thing you can try is moving your heRO folder out of the default folder ("Program Files"), if it's in there of course, to make sure it'll have certain privileges to run the game properly.
Already tried running it in comp mode, I also moved it right into C:\ to see if that does anything. Both did not work for me. For the hell of it I also updated all my drivers, even though it does not seem relevant. Any more ideas?
Edit: I also followed the install guide that makes you go through a bunch of fancy editing steps if you had other servers installed prior to HeRO and the guide for Win7 and Win8 users, all that should be there is there, nothing else.

The problem seems to be that something is not allowing the client to connect to the server. I know it's gonna sound obvious, but the only things I can think of are your firewall(s) and anti-virus. Double check if both are set to allow heRO to use your connection, and if you don't mind telling me which firewall and anti-virus you have I'll keep on trying to help you (PM me if you prefer).
I'm using the windows firewall and Microsoft essentials on this computer, both very basic and usually trouble free. I did in fact grant advanced permissions to HeRO to make sure.
Sent a suggestion in your support ticket. As Laenaya said, the error message you're getting means the connection is not reaching the server, it gets blocked.
