Best Way to Refine Level 3 and 4 Weapons?
Trying to +9 some level 3 and 4 weapons. What's the best way to go about it? Should I use WS to +7 and then enriched Oridecons or E.Oridecons to +7 and then WS to +9? Or just Enriched Oridecons all the way to +9 for BG weapons?

It seems +5~+7 would be better off getting a double roll from the enriched oridecons than +8~+9 since it's a higher chance and +8~+9 would benefit more from a +10% success rate from job lvl 70 WS.
Just @who2 Menace ingame. You should find me if I'm on. thanks!

Ah Thanks! This spells it out for me pretty well. I think I will just use WS up to +7 (except for BG weapons) and then enrich ori to +9 since my supply of enriched oridecon is somewhat limited.

In the end, the best way to refine something is pure persistance. Even with those nice things, it by no means guarantees you'll have a successful refining experience. You'll just have to break the same thing over and over and over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and overand over and over and over and over and....

Well, until you get what you want.

RE: Best Way to Refine Level 3 and 4 Weapons?
Menace, if you can decide on how much you value (in zeny terms) the weapon you're refining and 1 enriched oridecon there's an easy formula to work out which option you should go with:

Take the lowest of...

(1-WS Success %) * (Value of Weapon)

vs

(1-Enriched Success %) * (Value of Weapon) + (Value of Enriched Ori)

So if you're refining a weapon that you feel is worth 5m zeny, but you value E.Ori at 10m zeny it will almost never be worth it to use E.Ori (since the the loss of the weapon will never outstrip the "cost" of using the E.Ori).

If instead you find yourself with plenty of E.Ori (or just don't think it's worth much) but have a weapon you value at 15m (and say E.Ori is worth 2m to you) then you'll want to use that right away.

Effectively it comes down to how much the weapon is worth to you (and E.Ori, though that's not going to vary as wildly) to determine when you should use the E.Ori. Think of it this way, though, that E.Ori does nothing for you sitting in storage. :D

EDIT: A simpler (and more intuitive) way to think about it is this... for a given level of refine take the difference in success between WS (or regular NPC if you do not have a WS) and Enriched and multiply that by the value of your weapon. If the resulting number is bigger than the value you place on E.Ori then use the Ori, otherwise do not use it.

Example. +4-+5 for WS is 70%, for E.Ori is 84%. Difference is 0.16, multiply 0.16 * value of weapon and then compare to value of E.Ori. Take whichever is lower.
- Albus Dumbledore 99/70 Professor - Albus DumbIedore 92/59 Professor
- AIbus Dumbledore 93/50 Wizard - AIbus DumbIedore 1/1 Novice
- Astaroth 99/70 Creator - Dawkins 99/70 Creator
- Exemplar 98/69 Paladin - Equitas 80/47 Paladin
- Mephistopheles 95/65 Lord Knight - Shogo Kawada 97/67 Stalker

Best way would be self refining with a lvl 70 JOB WS. Icon_wink
I have made a +10 mes [3] and gave it to a Former GM of mine and he got banned. Sweat
And i made that +10 mes [3] out of 6 mes [3].
And after that i tried many times but reached to +8 only. Laugh
And the day i made +10 mes [3] was friday morning time.

We are talking about the 'best' way to refine your level 3/4 weapons. It's so simple! You just need photoshop and change the 9 to a 10 and there you go~ Although I enhance my equipment to 99 cause I'm just that awesome.
