Recently, there's been reports of someone claiming to be a GM, asking players for their account info, or worse, banking info, in order to make people GMs. These situations have been linked to the "pandora@hero.net", "Pandora@heroserver.net" emails and "gm.pandora.hero" skype handles, for which we would like to clarify that this email is not in any way associated with heRO.
Furthermore, the GM Team would like to, once again, clarify and remind players that: We will not ask for your personal information (RO Passwords, Social Security Number, Bank Account, etc), nor would we ask you to download programs such as Teamviewer.
GMs will not simply just offer to turn you into a GM in exchange for any personal info, nor will we log some secret non-GM character and "test" you for such things. All aspiring Moderators or GMs must follow the instructions on
this thread before sending in their applications.
The recent impersonation attempts have been made with a character of a specific name length, so that when they use an ingame chat room, their name would move their text to the next line so they can type "GM-Pandora : " followed by anything they want, to make it seem as if a real GM is talking when there's none in the chat room.
If you're unsure if a person offering you anything is truly a GM, the answer is simple: Ask them for proof. A real GM would be more than happy to nuke or spawn something terrible on you.
All that said, if you encounter anyone who has been pretending to be a GM, or has asked for private information, banking info, to download programs, or the like, with promises to turn you into a GM or give you certain power, please submit a
Support Ticket, or at the very least, send a forum PM to a GM right away.
With Love,
The GM Team
