  • Fixed Prontera's official Christmas map which caused crashing after staying in the map for several minutes. The nonexistent visual effects on the Christmas tree in the center have been replaced by floating sparkly spheres.

Lutia Update Patch
  • Retouched and updated versions of Lutia maps have been added in preparation for tomorrow's maintenance. From now until the maintenance you might encounter issues in the region, such as no longer being able to walk into warps, or NPCs inside walls or trees. This is only until the maintenance occurs.

Starting off the upcoming new year with some minor visual updates~
  • File Changes
  • Added 23 card images for future use.
  • Prepared the card and sprite illustration table for future item additions.

    Map Changes
  • Prontera's look has changed back to normal.
  • Improved the lightmaps of the Lutie Guild Hall.
  • Retouched the Ice Queen Castle's interior map. The walkable cells might cause issues for now, but will be fixed by next maintenance.

    Graphic Changes
  • Added new damage numbers that better resemble the regular RO ones of higher quality.
  • Added a new login screen.
  • Added/Changed new loading screens to promote different customs, and rearranged the order of some loading screens.
  • The katar Blood Tears now shows a custom sprite when equipped.
  • Added cutins of Lutia NPCs to be used after the next server maintenance.
  • Added /fog effects to Faeheim Fields, for whoever uses that.

  • Added several official map models.
  • Finished preparation for new Lutia Cards.
  • Updated Prisma Cave F2's large crystal in the lake to be chronicles accurate now that the story is over (It's the dreamstone core). Further map retouches coming eventually.
  • Fixed double description of bacsojin hat.
  • Fixed description of CD in mouth.
  • Recent card additions that showed a red "X" icon when carded now show the regular card icon.
  • Other minor file fixes.

  • File Updates:
  • Added the remaining Faeheim Art Contest reward files. Participants and winners can now contact GM-Ciar for their prizes.
  • Fixed Chilly Spell Book, Creeper Bow and Green Operation Coat's descriptions to match their intended effects.
  • Finally fixed issues with adding BGM to new maps. Faeheim, Lutia, Muspelheim, DB Rooms and PVP arenas now have new or fixed soundtracks assigned.

    Map Changes:
  • Izlude's green look was changed back to normal.
  • Umbala DB room map now has proper lightmaps (map shadows).

  • Sprite Updates
  • Added new weapon sprite for future use.

    Game File Updates
  • Updated several item descriptions. The Server Changelog will be updated shortly after this post with the specific updates.
  • Added sky/cloud effects to event maps and fireworks to Fortuna. As usual with the weather effect plugin heRO uses, to experience custom weather effects, you must have sounds enabled on the Sound Mode option via the sound options in setup.exe. This does not mean you will be forced to hear effects to see weather effects, as you may just mute by checking the boxes under BGM/Sound if you prefer.

  • Added new card illustrations.
  • Added a new cutin for the Healer. Thanks to Neloren for creating it!
  • Added a cutin for the Faeheim Kafra to be available by next maintenance.
  • Heart Pink Eyebandage, Charlie Beard and Chicken Beak no longer incorrectly have "Costume" in their names.
  • Creeper Bow's description has been fixed to be its custom one.
  • Added a new hairstyle for males and females to be added on the next server maintenance.

  • Fixed Death Fire's description which previously stated it was a shield instead of a revolver.
  • Fixed other minor description issues, and added the new Thanatos Tower gear.
  • Faeheim Minimaps now have larger warp indicators (red dots).
  • Lutia's Minimaps have been updated to reflect their new version (somehow forgot about this one for too long).
  • Added card images for Snow Harpy and Creamy Queen, to be released soon.

  • Visual updates & File Changes
  • Added extra special effects to the Dreamstone Core in Prisma Cave F2, and the Dreamstone Crystals in Prisma Cave F3. Sidenote Trivia, this makes Prisma Cave the first custom location in HeRO to utilize official's "newer" forms of adding special effects.


    Skill Effects Updates
  • Ninja's Throw Kunai skill now properly shows the kunai being thrown.



  • Added many new visual effects to skills which previously had none, or had similar ones and were not easy to tell apart.

    Note 1: All skill behavior remains the same.
    Note 2: No existing visual effects were removed as these are hard-coded, we only added additional ones. The only exception to this is Dark Cross, whose effect was somehow removed and only shows the new one.
    Note 3: On skills that do not inflict damage, such as Magic Mirror and Hallucination, (except Wide Status ones), it is currently impossible to show an effect, therefore the visual effect was added to the monster's cast time. This means that if the monster has no cast time for the skill, no effect will be shown.


    Skills with new visual effects are the following:

    Basic Damage Monster Skills
    - Piercing Attack
    - Dark Breath (The Red "9999" Skill, now turns the character red for a very brief period as an additional indicator of the skill's usage)
    - Stand Off Attack (Used mainly by merman)
    - Random Attribute Change (Used by nine tails & jokers)
    - Splash Attack (Used by... almost everything, but most notably, luciola vespa)
    - Random Property Attack (Used by Mane & Pale Vulpine)
    - Dark Cross
    - Undead Property Attack
    - Bleeding Attack
    - Hell Power

    Area Skills
    - Breath Skills (Fire, Ice Breath, Thunder Breath, Acid Breath)
    - Darkness Breath (Different from the red 9999 skill "Dark Breath")
    - Wide Status Skills (Wide Silence, Freeze, Petrify, Confusion, Sleep, Sight, Curse, Stun, Hell Dignity)
    - Vampire Gift
    - Wide Soul Drain

    Non-Damaging Skills
    - NPC Provocation (Reduces VIT Defense)
    - Dark Blessing (Coma)
    - Lick (Used by Comodo, and Nightmarish Verit)
    - Hallucination
    - Metamorphosis
    - Stone Skin
    - Anti Magic
    - Magic Mirror
    - Expulsion
    - Summon Monster (Used by Amon Ra, different skill from Summon Followers)

    - Fire Expansion (Only used by Surtur to create an area acid demonstration. Due to technical limitations it will always show an explosion, even if it does not inflict damage)

    Please keep in mind that on offensive non-ground targeted attacks like fire breath, the animation is shown for every target hit, meaning that with high amounts of targets, lag may be felt in the form of momentary drops in FPS. If many players experience this and it becomes a hindrance to the gameplay, please send a support ticket so we may investigate and change these visual effects if necessary.
