Recent Crashing

Hello heroes. As some have found out, there's been a series of client crashes recently, which have been extremely inconsistent and therefore difficult to reliably reproduce in order to troubleshoot.

Additionally, most reports that do make it to GMs tend to be "I crashed", with very few details, which is why this thread is being created.

Starting today, If you crash, please post here with the following information:

• Character Name
• Job Class
• All equipped headgears upon crashing (Upper, Middle, Lower)
• All equipped costumes upon crashing
• Map Name
• General Coordinates ("Near X", "Top left", etc)
• Approximate server time
• How? (Logging into a char, walking around a map, fighting mobs, teleporting, etc.)
• Were there anyone else on your screen that you know of? If so, try to provide as much information as possible about that person/people (such as what they are wearing on your screen)
• Did you receive the normal RO crash message, or a "heRO is not responding", or did the game exe just close?
• Do you rely on heRO to get your data.grf or rdata.grf? or do you update those grf files yourself via any other methods (from another private or official server)?

My client crashing started on Saturday 12:30 AM server time, June 27, and occurred a lot more in the last 24 hours than I've experienced in the entire time I've been on the server. First time it was in Prontera when I came back from afk, and then I switched to a character in Rachel Sanctuary, which also crashed. After crashing like 3 more times, I was able to stay on the character in Rachel Sanctuary. During an ET party on Saturday around 7:30 PM server time, I crashed somewhere in the mid-levels (maybe 70's?) and had to walk back, but also crashed while walking back up the levels (maybe the first 10 floors?). Fortunately, it stopped after that. Today's the latest occurrence, and I crashed twice so far, one at about 12:45 PM server time and then just now around 2:30 PM server time. See below for details on the character that just crashed.

• How: walking around map while vanil killed monsters
• Were there anyone else on your screen that you know of: no one else here
• Did you receive the normal RO crash message, or a "heRO is not responding", or did the game exe just close: just close
• Do you rely on heRO to get your data.grf or rdata.grf? or do you update those grf files yourself via any other methods (from another private or official server): what are data,grf or rdata.grf? i'm guessing i rely on heRO since i don't know what they are and i don't play on other servers

Received the crashed message, cliked on exit and heRO closed

Bump. Please remember to post here or update your existing post if you encounter any crashing. Two short sentences ingame, on discord or support ticket unfortunately won't do much to help solve the issue. :P

• Time: ~2:05 AM
• How? Sitting in town doing nothing. Crashed 3 times in a row after sitting in town for a while. No movement from anyone.
• Were there anyone else on your screen that you know of? If so, try to provide as much information as possible about that person/people (such as what they are wearing on your screen)
Gunslinger: costume love cheek, detective hat, orichalcum bp; Sinx: Costume galapago hat, takius blindfold, orichalcum bp
• Did you receive the normal RO crash message, or a "heRO is not responding", or did the game exe just close? The game just closed all 3 times in a row.
• Do you rely on heRO to get your data.grf or rdata.grf? or do you update those grf files yourself via any other methods (from another private or official server)? From official heRO download link/patcher



Edit: Re-downloaded and re-installed a few weeks back and so far have not crashed. There have been moments where it seemed like it was going to crash, some freezing for a few seconds, but did not.

I've recently been getting this message a few times while logging on.



No idea when or what causes it. Sometimes I can log on, some times this pops up.

Logging into a char
Nearly all of roger's merchants were near by login location
First attempt at logging in of the day, stopped to patch, repeated attempts. Char server connects, gets to end of loading screen, and client closes.
took 3 tries to login successfully
Seeing as how I don't really understand the whole data.grf thing, I assume they came from heRO

Crashing at Orcus

Time/Date: 13:35, Friday, July 24 2020

Location: Thanatos Basement (tha_t00) (upper left side)

Incidence: 3 People crashed, Womb12345 (Professor), DevilCry (Champion), Angel Kitty (High Priest), while fighting Quah Nomag, and 1 Lifedrinker. Crashed when Asura strike was being casted (?)

For all 3 of us, it was simply a split-second freeze, then the client window closed by itself.

Same players, headgears, monsters (Quah Nomag and/or its slaves).


We're thinking the crashing happens when the champ's being attacked, and they body relocate out
