I think that passport is mandatory for flights between usa and canada but isnt for car or bus. :/

Because passports are backlogged like 10-12 weeks. Or I can pay extra and have it in 2-3 weeks.

If I drive I don't need a passport...but...uh...S'prolly a long drive? And I'm too young to rent a car...without paying half of my yearly salary a day or whatever.

Appearantly though a 'proof of application status' is enough to get in and out of Canada, and I can have that in 7 days. So says the US dept of State, and they would know? lol

It's an 11 hour drive from Richmond to Montreal. I could pull it off. Even if I would rather fly...I'm a bit concerned due to issues with my ID/Residency still being out of Florida but I'm living in Virginia (my father is doing some wonky-yet-legal process that I don't comprehend) if I go to apply at the post office in VA, they'll look at my address and then look at the address on my ID and go 'wthax, wrong state'.
