explorer quest

what happens when i choose Light in the selection?
will it still continue even im in Dark group...coz im not sure what i choose
earlier i got no more pots and abt to die so i rushed on the explorer npc suddenly a gargoyle appeared so i was rushing b4 i die =/

and also..do i need to visit the explorer in order to have the points or i cn advance which place i like to visit??

If sir is not too much into the quest (didn't do anything related to light/dark except for this), there's the reset alliegiance NPC in prontera who will bring the points back to 0, but it'll restart all the quest again. That's also an option~
