found a bot

Just because he botted himself doesnt mean that nullifys the report, surely? I and others saw him too, and it was unbelievably blatant. Does that mean if he hadnt tried it again- I , or someone else would of had to file a seperate report ? Or he would of gotten away with it and had 50 something levels for free? D;

Well, reports can't always "prove" anything. I do not know the GMs official position on reports but, in my eyes, reports are meant to clue the GMs in on something and to have them look into it - not to prove someone guilty. If 10 people who didn't like someone got together and got conveniently-taken screenshots of them leveling without responding, it could look like someone was cheating in some way when they are not - which is why the GMs need to look into things personally. While they listen to reports, and follow them up accordingly, I am glad GMs would not just ban someone based on reports they were not around to validate.

This is a still a small server, GM's can't always be around, if he had stopped once we had warped and killed the bot, then a GM comes an hour later once he's counted his winnings and logged- does that mean he gets away with it because we didnt have 10 people following him taking screenshots?

It's more like this Bloody..

A botter reports bots so that others won't think they're a bot because they have reported so many and 'therefore hate them.' People will see the 'bot hunter' and assume they aren't botting because in their minds a 'bot hunter' would never do such a thing. It also makes them seem more human if they make a place in the community.

Well it depends on the report and how concrete the evidence is. In the screenshot his text box is only 3 lines, so who's to say the other person didn't answer? If no one else than this botter would have seen this guy in action, he would probably have gotten away with it for the time being, but considered "reported with no proof", in which case we keep checking that person.

It happens that players PM us with "I think this person is botting" but they are unsure themselves, then we look into it, and not just once.

Matter solved anyway, both banned, if anyone sees more bot please report them here or in a support ticket, either is fine, thanks.
