Been a while since I last watch a Haruhi anime...
Biggest impression is... the voice seem weird, not sure if its just me...
I cant remember season 1 voice exactly, but I have the impression that it was a tad deeper in tone, and this season a bit too smooth...
That and the overall seem a bit brighter and may be newer (not necessary better, it make me feel like watching a totally different show)

May be its just paranoid, but while promising in its own way, I dont really feel the "melancholy" as clearly as the first season, and it suddenly feel like some well-made but generic show.
P/S: And Kyon Monologue no longer seem as funny...

well it is just the first episode you shud giv it mor than that to decide if you like it >.> but did u watch it subbed or dubbed cause the japanese voice actors are the same....dubs suck

You are joking me, why would I judge it base of dub
The point is, the voices may be the same, but their tone has a different feel to it for me, a bit too... light?
I'm not saying it suck, I never score a series just from one ep so far, I often sit through 4-5 eps before deciding whether I'll drop it or not. Heck, I even sit through the whole Gundam Wing, which can easily be my most hated anime of all time. I said it has promising, but somehow I dont feel the unique-ness that drawn me to the first season, and suddenly seem a bit generic.
And I did say it might just be my paranoid.
P/S: I'll refrain from saying dub suck, although they generally are, I've ran across some animes that when I turn the voice setting to dub in my bored time, they are surprisingly good. The reason I always prefer sub + Jap VA is that I believe any cultural production should be enjoyed as close as possible to its original form, there's always something lost in the transition

How is the new Haruhi? Is it just a continuation for fanservice sake?
Or is it actually a good follow-up?

It felt to me like Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya ended ended.

i don't fell anything special with this new season..
maybe because it's fells so similar with the first one
