RE: Magic the Gathering

Well my opinion on it is:
Less Combat Tricks = BAD. Taking less thought out of the game...
While there is a point that some cards were overpowered ie: nantuko husk it still wasn't being gamebreaking
So I kinda miss it.

No manaburn is dumb, it's easy to understand, and has good flavor. And people keep saying no one was ever manaburned? Even in competitive, let's say I have a rugged prairie and a plains, and I only have a mogg fanatic in hand, I have to take 1 damage to summon it. That scenario happened a lot. Not to mention casual decks that revolve around giving others manaburn for the win.

The other stuff is ok I suppose, not too much difference. Overall I dislike the rules changes.

But I like the m10 cards. Mmm powerful set is powerful *__*

RE: Magic the Gathering

As always Proxyt you and I only agree halfway D:
I think we'll have plenty of combat tricks still left to perform in the new Magic, it just won't be from character abilities so much and instead powering up Instants/Sorceries.

Watch as Type 1 laughs at some of these new rules Icon_sad
Edit: BTW if I hit back in Magic T2, I totally am playing Mono Red, we got freaking LIGHTNING BOLT AND BALL LIGHTNING BACK YAY!!!!!!!

RE: Magic the Gathering

I played friday night magic type 2 during the mirrodin block/kamigawa block, but 95% of my cards where from mirrodin

I started with a white cats deck (with the allmigthy one that gives all cats +2/+2 double strike). I sucked hard vs all those artefact decks so I then switched to a white-small-creatures-equipments-wrath-of-gods deck. With the proper cards from my sidedeck I was able to pwn those allmighty ravager decks(those that got banned afterward)

I also had a sliver deck that I used to play agaisnt my friends.

But I stopped playing mtg after kamigawa cuz nobody in my entourage I know were still playing (started college)

RE: Magic the Gathering

The new damage rule blows. Not that my Mogg Fanatics are useless now, but they certainly aren't as good.

I'm reading some of the MTG related posts here and I am stunned. For even casual play, I have several decks that win on turn 2 or 3. That's too slow for the 1.5 tournament here.

You all should try pre-releases. They are truly a test of skill. You get 6 boosters, all the lands you need and a pat on the back. 40 cards is a good max for a deck.

If I ever hear of an Artifact deck that contains ONE mirrodin block card that is good, I'll lol. Mirrodin sucked for artifacts.

What are you trolling about mirrodin block sucked for artefacts? >:0
Have you ever saw a type2 ravager deck at that time? I doubt it. :l

RE: Magic the Gathering

Dani and Krim, you have no idea.

Old school artifact decks eat Mirrodin decks alive.

New Damage rule eliminates the stack essentially.

I used to be able to attack/block with Mogg Fanatic and then sac him and deal damage to player/creature. But now, I can attack/block (it does block the damage) but if I trigger his ability, he doesn't deal combat damage.

I played t2 until Ravinca. I only do pre-releases and booster drafts now.

RE: Magic the Gathering

New dmg rule hasn't changed how artifact decks play entirely.
Reading type 1 decks that win, several of those artifacts still get played today.

How has new dmg rule affected Mirrordin cards to some sort of unplayability? I never even said play a full mirrodin deck for T1 tournament play or even casual. Besides you'd be crazy to pass up some of the artifacts and stuff back before Mirrordin too, my mind is a bit fuzzy but I know Lion's Eye Diamond, Tolarian Academy, Metal Worker, and Moxes come to mind.

Academy is actually a land. Icon_razz

Accelerate decks I find to be the best. I can't stand slow playing.

RE: Magic the Gathering

Yah but your nuts to not run it now with the new mana burn rules if you are playing an artifact deck at all.

BTW from Mirrodin earlier there is also Archbound Ravager, Darksteel Collossus, and Platinum Angel, Chrome Mox (restricted for a reason in T1) <_>...

Yah and I am certain the Darksteel Collossus and Platinum Angel are played in top tier type 1 decks.
Seriously, Artifact decks are some of the fastest, and you can say most of the fuel comes from Mirrordin, and only recently can we add Tezzeret to that list.
