I've heard that you can become 3rd class in the 2nd class but you will have only the 3rd Class Skin. If you become 3rd Class in transcend class you will have the skill with the class of course

To clarify the above post, you can go straight from second class to 3rd class if you choose but in doing so you forfeit access to the trans skills.

i.e. A 99 Crusader could opt to forego the 99/70 grind and go straight to Royal Guard, but he would lose out on the 25% hp/sp increase associated with Paladin and would not have access to Martyr's Reckoning (Sacrifice), Gloria Domini (Pressure), Battle Chant (Gospel), or Rapid Smiting (Shield Chain).

As a result of this design, however, none of the 3rd class skills have any trans skills as pre-reqs. Of course, they're still working on Renewal and 3rd job balance so all of this is subject to change.
